Hopefully the Sedins are smart enough to NOT trade 1sts

They learned to trade every second round pick from Benning now they’ll learn to trade every first rounder from Rutherford.

All that optimism in Vancouver was sure short lived.

For almost a decade the team has had an inexperienced GM & Coach. We've all seen the results .

Now the team has opted for experience and building an organizational structure.

Benning aside from a couple of draft picks was an incompetent fool, Desjardins & Green were in over their heads.

We'll see.

Hmmm interesting move.

Willing to hear the man out before jumping into hysterics.
Let's hear what the plan is before assuming all 1st/2nd round picks are out the window.

The situational differences between the Pens of 2014-2020 and the Canucks of today are vastly different.
I can't imagine he takes the same approach to team building...for better or worse.

Very true. Let's just hope he comes in knowing that. Honestly at this point I'm fine with them riding out the season to the TDL without any shake ups or trades. Let's just see what the team is like without Green

Also, on a positive note, I don't see old man Rutherford taking any poop from Aquilini.

Straight to voicemail on draft and deadline day.

The Pens would have never won those second two cups with Crosby and Malkin without Rutherford. Extremely astute moves. Since those two cups it's been mostly sideways or backwards moves. Some rash decisions. ALWAYS entertaining. JR tells the world exactly what he's thinking.

I'll say this.... He's entertaining. He does not sit idle. I'll bet he already has a couple of trades in mind.

Hexy is boring as F.

I am willing to withhold judgement as I think this has the looks of something different, I appreciate that the Sedins have held back in jumping right in to senior management as decision makers. I love Boudreau he gives thoughtful and articulate(to a degree)answers and currently has both players and media focused on him. I believe he is so successful in taking teams over midway because he is difusing to the media and works as a great shield for the players. Rutherford is good at building out an organization-AGM's, scouts etc. I believe with him the front office staff will grow, especially the analytics department as he does use and believe in them. Wait and see .....

Why would FA need to call him draft day? He won’t have any picks.

I'll withhold judgement until a GM is hired or the first trade. As Whiskey mentioned, he won't be taking advice from Aqualini.

He was an old guy desperate to get back into the game

The aquilini's have no self restraint

they will interfere guaranteed.

I wonder how much input Smyl and the Sedins and RJ all had in this, or if it was purely FA

Jim Rutherford will have to manage up. But vitally important that Canucks hockey-ops gets autonomy. Rutherford wouldn’t come without that assurance.
