Meanwhile, I have just confirmed this same news.
The Coyotes have until 5 p.m. on Dec. 20 to pay the outstanding arena invoices and taxes from 2020-21. If they don't they will be locked out of Gila River Arena - VANTEL
Correct. The rivalry was waaaaay more than that 1 game. There was the press and fans that were constantly at each other for years. 2 organizations that genuinely hated one another. That game was the culmination of some nastiness that was ongoing for years. - Load Management
Yet, I don’t think the Good Friday massacre cracks the top 30 in penalty minutes assessed in one game (I might be wrong). Goes to show how goonie the league was.

For regular season the record happened in 2004 in a game between the Sens and Flyers. 419 minutes assessed. Not even in the goony era. The Massacre was a playoff game. I haven't been able to find any basis of comparison.
Also, back when the Massacre happened there was only 1 Ref. I'm positive a lot of penalties were missed. The behind the play chippy play and cheap shots is what made things boil over.

The massacre was 250 penalty minutes? Pussies - bloatedmosquito
I wonder if modern players playing under old rules with the equipment they wore back then would even survive a period. I know a guy like Marchand would be toothless at the very least.

Just watched highlights of that Sens Philly game. Yikes.
Now I’m going to be in an endless YouTube vortex of hockey fights. Thanks.

Marchand has always reminded me of Theo Fleury.
Who definitely lost a few chicklets.
