For as much as Ive always hated the average joe blow rocking a dan carbomb jersey in xfinity, ive always had to give the flyers masses credit for overall loyalty. (i understand you are viewing this loyalty as their own noose to an extent, but that is not the point)
that being said, it goes back to something that you and tomahawk were touching on the other day. I really make no assumption about anyone on here and definitely mean no offense, but a lot of these staunch loyalists are for the lack of a better phrase getting old. I think that will be a shift that is seen through most sports as the years advance. Young people and the next generations will come out for winners. I just dont see that next generation of hand me down, bleed your team colors passion really taking hold in large numbers whereas before it used to be a default setting.
I'm not that old and I remember basing my entire summer existence around the phillies schedule as a kid, sitting with a notebook and jotting things down and stacking up my baseball cards and whatnot. Not to sound too much as yelling at clouds here, but now kids will just go play fortnite, follow teams on social media just enough to converse about it, and show up in droves when teams are good and its an event. So who knows. - stayinthefnnet
I agree. You can see similar characteristics in the working world. We old folks tended to stay in our jobs much longer (sometimes an entire career) whereas the younger group nowadays has no issue with changing jobs in as little as a year or two. |

Voracek has 1 goal this year
Atkinson has 9.
Voracek has 20 pts
Atkinson has 14.
Atkinson's cap hit is cheaper than Voracek.
No. The Flyers are not missing Voracek...who picked up another meaningless assist vs Toronto on a meaningless goal with 1 second left in the game....a loss to the leafs.
They missed the playoffs with Voracek. Now, they will miss the playoffs without him. Wow! He sure was a difference maker.
As for Ghost, the Coyotes are worse than the Flyers.
If he had value, somebody would have picked him up for free on waivers last year. Somebody would have traded for him this off-season without the Flyers having to give up a pick to move him out.
Stop over-valuing players just because they played for the Flyers. 10 years is long enough. These players are not that good! - Captain_Ahab

What the manager says publicly is rarely what the manager will do privately if s/he is the CEO. Iotw, those statements may be the "party line." - PT21

I'm harping on Panaring and Fox because without them, the Rangers are just another team. Both players have substantially upgraded that team. For the reasons previously discussed, I don't see the Rangers as a good model to emulate. There is absolutely something lucky when that free agent wants to play for your team over all others and will take less money to do so. You saying that the Flyers could've outbid the Rangers doesn't consider that other teams reportedly did outbid the Rangers. So I would ask WTF are you talking about? Not well thought out.
Again, if you think the Flyers can do what the Rangers did, you are misguided. As misguided as you've been all along with the culture change etc. Do yourself a favor and look at the UFA list for the next few years. - MJL
I think they can do what florida did. But the fox trade doesn't happen very often to a future norris winning Dman

Provorov has 29 points on the PP since AV was hired. Only Giroux and TK have more. And his PPP/60 rate of 4.31 is reasonably good - right around Voracek and Couturier.

I guess it depends on what you call good. He is a shadow of the top PP point producing defenseman in the NHL. He is not the right guy for a top PP. Provorov doesn't move or distribute the puck well. Nor does he shoot the puck well on the PP in my opinion. Also not very effective in zone entries. |

Well, its not that sophisticated. Just don't fall for the short term fixes.
But on a lighter vein, I would have thought you would adore Carbomb. That buffoon singlehandedly (literally, with his right paw) turned a playoff series around 12 years ago in your favor. - PT21
lol so true - couldn't stand that guy

YA, once he decided to trade Schenn, he needed to go all in. Totally didn't make sense to try and be competitive to draft in the teens. What a waste of years. - bradster
He made up for it by signing jvr. Oh wait a second. |

Thanks for sharing. But based off comments ghost s numbers can’t be correct. I mean we would have no p p issues if he was still here, right. He’s leading the totes to greatness. |

ill agree to that, but without sounding too much like a bleeding heart millenial, the benefit of the bargain that most older workers got for being loyal far exceeds what is there now.
now, the only reward you get its through either leaving or leveraging the threat of it. |

Ugh. And yet it amazes me how many teams we’re still above in the standings. |

Very true - younger folks aren't afraid of change, either. If it (whatever "it" is) isn't giving them what they want/need they'll simply move on to something else that will.

Sometime around the middle of February into March, the Flyers will be making their moral victory Cup run. Many will be fooled. |

Lost in all this mess is that Dave Hakstol actually squeezed some decent hockey teams out of this pile. He did a pretty solid job, outside of his fixation with Chris Vandevelde. |

Vandevelde skates harder half these buffoons now
I swear our two best scoring chances last night came from D men taking things into their own hands in the offensive zone last night. Forwards totally phoning it in. |

Question. When Rick Tocchet is inevitably hired, does he bring a lunch pail into the locker room on the first day? And does it have some sandpaper in it? |

What enrages me the most is that rather than looking in the mirror and saying let’s give it everything we have for this game so that maybe we don’t set the franchise record for losses, they completely mail it in. You clowns wanted a coaching change and gave up on the coach. Got what you wanted and still can’t play like you care. It’s disgusting to see this as a lifelong fan. |
