That's not correct. The Flyers badly miss the skills that both of those players had. Wouldn't make a huge difference though.
- MJL

Right and it wouldn't make a difference because .... OF THE PLAYERS THAT ARE STILL HERE!!

You keep calling it a reset. That is not what needs to be done. They need to go back to the Hextall plan and start that again. There is no reset that is going to fix this. Those that had any inkling that Fletcher was going to trade this team into contention, was foolish
- MJL

We see every night where the hextall plan got us. We need better than that.

Ok, when you say the Hextall plan what do you mean? The dream plan was to clean house and do a full rebuild, but that is not what happened. What happened was a focus on rebuilding the farm system while also maintaining a competitive team. I think we all agree that this was a bad idea, right? So if what you really mean is a complete rebuild like what the Rangers did I agree with you. But if its go back to what we did under Hextall .. no freak'n way!
- jd250

Do I seriously need to explain what Hextall was trying to do? Again, some want to discount how lucky the Rangers got. That's not likely to be repeatable. They made some very good moves but they aren't what they are without Panarin and Fox.

I absolutely can admit what Risto is, but even still you are insane if you would take SanSoft over Risto.
- jd250

Absolutely I would. Not that I think Sanheim is anything special but he is the type of player you need in today's NHL. Ristolainen is not.

He’s awesome on a beautiful sunny day but the minute there’s clouds or rain the guy is a middle of the road D man. He’s way too inconsistent to be considered top end talent. He also went an absolutely loaded draft and a few guys right after him can be argued were the better players. It was the safe route as usual, take the 200 foot guy as folks have mentioned.
- ClaudeFather

I’ll say again. I don’t care what anyone says, Ivan Provorov is top end talent. No he’s not being miscast because of the team he’s playing on. When a team isn’t winning, when you’re 24 and facing the other team’s absolute best talent every night. When D-partner isn’t remotely on your level. When you lose 3-0, all you’re going to see are the faults. Ivan Provorov looks pretty damn good to me next to Ellis or Niskanen and the team is both scoring and winning. Provorov has next to Justin Braun for his second season in a row and seeing time with Nick Seeler. Gee, why is this? Ellis was praised last summer for having a career high of 41 points at one point in a season. Weird because Provorov has the same career high and he did it when he was younger.

You can trade every single player on this roster, but if Comcast doesn't finally get a clue and hire an architect that understands where the game is headed (and lets them do their job w/o interference), then nothing will change.
- Tomahawk

And you are sure Fletcher is not that guy? Even with how well the Wild are doing this year, he gets absolutely 0 credit from you?

I do -- he did a tremendous job bolstering the team in the off-season

Jake didn't want to be here anymore but the return could have been better. Unfortunately, these are the kind of deals you have to make when you sign contracts like the one Fletcher gave to Kevin Hayes.

I dont miss Ghost whatsoever.

- mochoson

I don't think the return would've been better at Jakes salary. He was over paid for his game.

Flyers will continue to seed the league with good players. The yearly ritual of watching former Flyers raise the Cup will continue. All for a change of scenery.

How many games has Ristolainen played in the NHL? You still can't admit what he is. I'd take Sanheim over Ristolainen all day long.
- MJL

I disagree with you about luck, but let's put that aside. I'm saying I like the approach the Rangers took, they gave up as much as they could and rebuilt, at the cost of a few seasons. That is what I want the Flyers to do, give up everything they can and reset at the cost of a few seasons. Maybe even keep Yeo here because I think he is good with younger players teaching them the right way to play, and then hiring a coach once the team is ready to move to the next level. But I don't want to go back with hoarding draft picks while also trying to keep a competitive team on the ice. Its nice on paper but I don't believe it will ever work, as we have witnessed first hand under Hextall!

People were saying Jake was the problem and needed to be gone, too.

Ditto Ghost.

How's that working out so far?

- Tomahawk

Oh sweet Jesus. How are Arizona and Columbus doing this season? I could care less about Jake’s 1 goal and a thousand assists. Is it resulting in wins. I’m here for wins, not individual points.

In all seriousness: Lindblom needs to be traded for a bag of pucks. Yesterday.

This team needs wiggle room to make basic roster moves (which is pathetic).

If this season is being chalked up then space needs to be made for players like Allison and York to get time on the big club. These players might be better options than a few of the players on the current roster right now...inevitable growing pains and all.

The point is those were the Flyers' two top transition and entry players. And now we're left with a team that can't get the puck thru the NZ and over the blueline to save their lives. It was predictable as hell.

Voracek has 1 goal this year
Atkinson has 9.

Voracek has 20 pts
Atkinson has 14.

Atkinson's cap hit is cheaper than Voracek.

No. The Flyers are not missing Voracek...who picked up another meaningless assist vs Toronto on a meaningless goal with 1 second left in the game....a loss to the leafs.

They missed the playoffs with Voracek. Now, they will miss the playoffs without him. Wow! He sure was a difference maker.

As for Ghost, the Coyotes are worse than the Flyers.

If he had value, somebody would have picked him up for free on waivers last year. Somebody would have traded for him this off-season without the Flyers having to give up a pick to move him out.

Stop over-valuing players just because they played for the Flyers. 10 years is long enough. These players are not that good!

Gotta agree here. When a player is gone, he's gone. His points/performance with his new team are 100% irrelevant to the Flyers.
