So the average NHL team value increased from $653 million to $865 million this year but we’re only expecting the cap to increase by $1M.

Something doesn’t add up there.

It could still change but I wonder if although value increased, theyre still covering losses from last year.

Agreed, but those values are all hypothetical. The Rangers aren't actually worth $2 billion until someone makes them an offer that high. Teams can be worth a lot, but still be losing money or be short of cash...

I figured that much as well, and if the average team value increase by $10M I wouldn’t question the cap so much. But we’re talking about $200M and like 30% in a year that was supposed to be a down year. Curious what Forbes considers when coming up with these, could be largely inflation driven.
