Silver lining czarik bellows and wahlstrom great line - kasperrko
Yet Wahlstrom barely cracked 10 min. Bailey meanwhile see's the second most icetime of the forwards.
Despite being near the top in TOI over the last 5 games, Bailey has 2 shots on goal....
Even better, he has 10sog this YEAR. Matt friggin Martin has 15. Of the Isles who have started 10g or more, only Andy Greene has fewer shots |

Wasnt his fault last night, but he was ordinary too. Can't help but think Sorokin would have won that game. That may be unfair, but he's been superior by far - keaner17
There wasn't a goal that was Varly's fault. |

I think that’s a good description of his season so far. Not bad but nothing great either. He’s probably still finding his rhythm after coming back but he’s certainly not stealing any games for us. |

I don't disagree, but his 0-5 record and .884 sv pctg is a stark contrast to Sorokin's 6-6 record .924 sv pctg. I like having both on this roster, but at $5m, his days may be numbered. |

Team has to get a little younger next season. And a little more skilled. I'm all for selling off Bailey and Varlamov in the offseason, along with some of the scraps. There's some intriguing UFA options out there this summer. - eichiefs9
Then comes the question is if we have the right coach for a much younger team. I’m in no way saying I want trotz gone I think it would be an incredibly stupid move but it’s no secret how he feels about young players. |

I also worry about how chronic his 'lower body' issue is. He had an injury mid season last year that caused him some 'soreness', then suddenly it resurfaced and forced him to miss the start of the playoffs. Suddenly it's back before the season starts. There's a recurring issue there that could still be effecting him. |

I dunno. He may feel he made his point with the limited ice time. I would hope it's Salo for Aho. Then pay someone to take Bailey for 'a ride' |

I don't think Salo for Aho is going to move the needle much for this team. Salo will eventually be a better player than Aho, but right now he's still inexperienced and is likely going to have the same defensive lapses that Aho does.
Wahlstrom absolutely has to get more ice time. This team cannot score and he's tied for 2nd on the team in both overall scoring and goal scoring. Yet he's 22nd overall (12th among forwards) in total TOI/game and 23rd (12th among forwards) in ES TOI/game. That one doesn't add up to me. |

Varly has not been good. That second goal was just a brutal play by him..He has to have better rebound control than that.. he literally just kicked it over to nashville player on the doorstep. It was a brutally bad play. Last goal can't happen either.. brutal loss. |

I am all for changes but who are they putting in??? If they are suppose to be that good why haven't they already been inserted. It is like changing one dirty towel for another dirty towel. |

I think Salo looks better than Aho now. When you consider that Aho directly caused two of the goals I would say such a move may indeed move the needle some. That said we really don't have anybody to line up and replace the bigger name players that aren't producing. So you could say we're out of luck in terms of impact moves with our roster. |

If...If you were to move Varly. You need to be getting a top 6 forward or a top 4 defenseman back. As well as who is the back-up? Corey???
My feeling is that you need to bring in someone that will work with Barzal. Someone he can feed pucks to all day long. Let Lee clean the door step of that pair. If not, than move Barzal for a Player, prospect and draft picks. Bc you are wasting years like they did with JT.
Moving Varly and Stailey Bailey will get you maybe a 2nd rounder and 50 pucks. |

Do you think he can still be hurt? Maybe his injury needs surgery and he is trying to play through it. Just spit balling. |

I don't think he started the game hurt but might be now after Mayfield high sticked him in the face and then landed on him.

Varlamov is not getting moved in-season, waste of time to even discuss it. Good chance he gets shipped out over the summer, but that's a long way off. |

Not sure if you have an Athletic subscription or not, but Staple just posted an article that took a pretty reasonable look at things right now.
Real hard for me to find any good reasons to justify spending more assets, after using up so many of them in the last three years, to bring in outside help. |
