we play with a sense of confidence with him in net that we just can't/don't when it's Georgi, no matter how decent he's playing

#NHL says the Players’ $1 billion debt to owners is expected to be paid off in three seasons, including this one, at which point the salary cap can be re-linked the HRR and rise dramatically.

In other words, it’s possible for a significant cap increase in 2024-25 season.

Never knew Trouba played so physical.

Adding that intangible to this team is exactly what doctor ordered (no pun intended).

Love having his presence on the ice, and in the locker room for our young D men.

He's worth every penny that they are paying him.

So Rangers need to get creative for 2 seasons and then should be in good shape. 5th, 6th and 7th defensemen should all be be under $1M next 2 seasons along with backup goalie. After next season no dead money left either but a few more RFAs to sign.

Players kinda get screwed in the short term though. Paying back $1B to owners, and taking hits from inflation (like most of us) while owners each see on average a $200M increase in team values.

Its probably not a popular opinion but I think we should atleast try trading LAF in some package to draft Shane Wright. Were treading very shallow water to get offer sheeted.

Offer sheet is a legit possibility. Just feel like that kind of move has the potential risk to backfire in a major way. Especially if NYR need to add a piece or 2. Lafs junior stats appear far superior but it’s tough to compare leagues. Once on a top line and PP unit there’s no reason his stats couldn’t double or even triple in the near future.

The problem is, how long are we gonna wait for LAF to be on a top line? He will likely waste away for atleast 4 years behind Panarin and Kreider with substandard linemates. Wright could start out with Cuylle, Othmann, Gauthier and easily work his way up in between Panarin and Strome.
