Unbelievable. Put a fork in her she’s done. I can give a rats arse about the Olympics anyway especially with it being they’re in China. We shouldn’t be going to begin with but that’s a whole other story all together. Lameriello should start thinking about what to do with the dead weight and be more worried about draft position then anything else at this point. - Cptmjl
I don't even think he's got much to offer in the trade market. No matter how much people scream and cry that we should trade Bailey and Varlamov, it's not happening at the deadline. Maybe in the offseason, but not at the trade deadline. Not to mention, both of their values couldn't possibly be lower right now.
Which pretty much leaves the pending UFA's: Clutterbuck, Parise, Greene, and Chara. I don't see anyone giving up more than like a 6th round pick for Chara. The other three might be moveable, but I wouldn't expect much for them. If Lou could recoup the 2nd round pick he spent on Greene I'd be thrilled Chara isn't even worth the cost of flying him to his new team, let alone any tangible assets
Maybe he'd move Bellows (pending RFA) if someone wants to offer up a 1st round pick or something, but both moving him and getting a 1st round pick for him seem unlikely. |

Yeah. Maybe give it until after the New Year...but at that point, if losses and COVID are still the theme, then GM UIF would probably start trying to recoup some of the assets burned over the last couple of seasons. Maybe there's a miracle that's going to happen, but, probably, this just isn't their year.
I wouldn't make any massive changes to the core based on this season...how do you even know what to evaluate in a season that's been nothing but fits, starts, delays, and obstacles right from the start?
But, if they're still fighting with Montreal and Ottawa for the bottom spot in the conference in January, there are definitely non-core vets that can be shipped out for whatever. Also, if it doesn't turn around soon, they should probably start playing the younger guys in bigger roles so they can give them experience and really see what they can do. I can't think of a compelling reason why Bellows, or Salo, or whoever should still be mostly a question mark by the start of next season...unless, again, they pull a rabbit out of a hat and roar back over the next couple of weeks. |

I bet Chara could get a 3rd based on name and reputation.

I'll eat my shoe if he fetches us a third rounder
I'm thinking more the 6th rounder I mentioned would be the best case scenario. Nobody with eyes is going to want to throw him out there for a regular shift in the playoffs unless a guy or two gets hurt. He'd be an insurance policy for a contender and nothing more.
I hope I'm wrong |

Bellows has played well lately, but he's always been kinda streaky with his play (obviously in a very limited viewing window). The problem is what to do with him when Beau does get back in the lineup, assuming everyone else is healthy/not on the Covid list. Like it or not, Parise isn't coming out. I guess you could keep Martin and Johnston on the bench and let Parise be the 4LW, but I'm guessing Barry wants a heavy in the lineup. |

In the immediate future, and while there's still a chance to turn things around, Parise should absolutely play every night.
A month from now, if the Isles are still looking up at the Sabres and Flyers, then there's really no point in constantly playing a guy who won't be back, especially if he's still in single digits for goals, no mater how "vet" he is. At least that's one idiot's opinion! |

Meh, 11pts out of the 2nd wildcard spot (albeit with a lot of games in hand on most teams) 10 days from Christmas and playing in the most competitive division in the league probably means they're out of it. Especially when there's a good chance their best player is now out for 10 days, unless his test turns out to be a false positive. |

I think so, too; I just don't think there's any immediate rush to throw in the towel just yet. I'm guessing teams will start gearing up for playoff runs sometime after the New Year, and maybe that's when they should start switching gears. |

Hard to say how things will shake out. In multiple sports now we're seeing covid cases rise sharply. Every team is a sneeze away from a losing streak at this point |

Yeah I wasn't talking about moving anyone out now. I just mean once the deadline rolls around. |

I just want to compliment you on the fine use of the semi-colon, undoubtedly the most under-rated form of punctuation. |

We need to go all-out Marchand, and have our Covid-positive players start licking the opponents. |

On the morning of January 3, 2019, the St. Louis Blues were in last place with a record of 15-18-4, for 34 points. They went on to win the Stanley Cup that season. There's still hope for the Islanders. |

There's hope for the Islanders in the same sense that there's hope that I win the Powerball or MegaMillions.
It's not impossible but it's incredibly unlikely |

They will win tonight. Others will pick it up and there won’t be as many TO’s |

You never know. I’ve said it as well as others if any team can do it this one can. Some pretty crappy odds but that’s why they play the games and I’m not going to stop watching or hoping. |
