I'm not holding my breath that they're going to get him, it would take an exceptionally-bad remainder of the season to "catch" Arizona in the race to the bottom. Arizona is atrocious and the Isles have a minimum of 2 games in hand on every single team in the league. It's not like they have anyone to sell off that would really make them much worse after the deadline either. But if the finish with a top-11 draft pick, they have a chance to win and hop up to #1 I guess.

But yea, seems unlikely it'd happen.

I'm interested to see what you guys do at the deadline as you don't have a ton of clauses preventing moves. I'd at least try to move Martin and depending on who is on Varly's NT list, just hand the reigns to Sorokin and get some assets for those guys.

I don't foresee them moving anyone with term left. They can dump some, or all, of Parise, Greene, Clutterbuck, Chara and that's about it. Maybe Bellows if someone wants to pay a premium, he's a pending RFA.

Maybe Varly or Bailey get moved in the offseason for some cap flexibility, but their values are at rock-bottom right now. And I don't think anyone is taking on Bailey at the deadline with two more years at $5M, even though his actual salary is lower in the final two years of the deal.

Not sure I'd place a wager on it, but moving Varlamov before the final year of his deal would be a real good way to clear $5M off the cap and let them have some fun in free agency. Even with a down year, someone out there would be interested in a low-risk move if they'd like to shore-up their goaltending position. Maybe a return to COL.

I'd rather they just tell everyone to go home and quarantine for the duration, or most of it. Have a few days towards the end to run a few practices and get everyone back in shape. But a full-league quarantine might be just what they need to kill the spread of things and that break affords them the time to do it

I would like to see Laf get a shot on either of the top 2 lines again. Know he’s been less comfortable on his off wing, but we need to start finding this kid more ice time. I think Chytil is killing his game with his (at times) selfishness and poor decision making. Kreider and Zib aren’t producing at even-strength, so maybe it’s time to split them up and give Laf a shot on Zibs left.

3rd line of Kreider-Goodrow-Gauthier would be fun to watch. All of Kreiders points come on the PP anyway.

Boy oh boy would I like to find the NUMEROUS posts I made about how Kreider at even strength (given the style of play) does not matter where he plays in the lineup. Because he does not elevate the guys around him, rather hes more a detriment because they have to sort of cater to him.

Hell, it was maybe just a week ago when I suggested putting LAF and Gaut with Zib when they seemed to have been clicking together despite Chytil being between them. OUTRAGE ensued.
