I don't think the players should go over and compete in the Olympics especially now with everything is going on now. Having to quarantine for 3-5 weeks if you test positive, wouldn't it be better if the players not go and the NHL could reschedule the games that are already postponed in that two week period with likely more games to come. From a Flames fan perspective the last thing we need is either Markstrom, Lindholm, Chucky, Gaudreau going to China and having the possibility of testing positive and being stuck in China. |

That’s where you get your info is Google ? Then any discussion with you on the subject is already lost on your part !! And yes I’m good with keepin it about hockey !!! - Hockeyfan4life14
Really? Now using Google makes your argument invalid? That's like saying your argument is invalid because you went to the library for your info. |

This isn't about the Flames per se, but it is about hockey. I hope that's ok.
"....11 NHL teams have been affected by game postponements so far. The NHL has recommended but not mandated booster shots for its players and team personnel...."
- Tampa Bay Times
https://www.tampabay.com/...urther-nhl-postponements/
and
"...The International Olympic Committee has said an athlete who tests positive for COVID-19 in China will need to produce two negative results 24 hours apart. If they’re unable to do so, the quarantine period could last from three to five weeks...." (elsewhere quarantine period was said to be 4 - 6 weeks.)

Would players really want to go that badly that they'd risk being in quarantine in China for maybe a month or more?
And with so many games now being postponed how can they be made up except by possibly rescheduling at least the most important ones during the Olympic break?
Things were looking pretty promising as long Ottawa and Islanders were the only teams suffering badly - but now...I wouldn't bet a nickle on them going to China.
And if it turns out that this latest development is due to the Omicron variant and it's as contagious as the Brits are saying, then we should probably be thankful for whatever hockey we're able to watch over the holidays - no matter which teams are playing.
And people can scream as loud as they want but if the border gets shut again could the NHL finesse a Canadian division to stumble through a so-called "season"? - or could the Canadian teams play out of US cities instead? Lots of questions to be considered at the league offices, I imagine.
PS. I don't mean to poop on the parade but it's pretty hard to ignore how things have changed in a very short time - the proverbial elephant in the room.
(And thankfully, it's finally our turn tomorrow. Thank you Duran, Trevor and others for your kind thoughts.) - itwasin
So many reasons for not only hockey players but any athlete to not attend these Olympics. Anywhere but friggin China. Saw report on one of the MSM channels that China is building up presence to invade Taiwan but wont until after the Olympics. Imagine being stuck in quarantine in China on a false positive test that keeps coming up positive according to China officials, they invade & the world reacts & then good luck on getting these athletes out. Insanity! Just say no NHLPA, fck sakes! Then lets see what this Omicron is. So far reports out of South Africa are positive, mild symptoms & very few hospitalizations. Seems to support the science that the more contagious it is the milder it will be. So shut down the Olympics, postpone all the NHL games for the next 2-3 weeks, get a handle on the outbreaks & lets see what this Omicron is. Hopefully its mild & start to reschedule missed games in February. Easy peasy, seems like a no brainer to me.
In the meantime, would love to see Pelletier, Valamaki, Gawdin, Phillips & even Wolfy come in & see if they can bring that AHL swagger to the NHL.
Stay safe everyone. I love my vaccinated friends & family & I love my unvaccinated friends & family. |

Again - you never fail to disappoint in proving what an embarrassment you are to Flames fans. You used a few words in your vitriol that 100% apply to you, and not to the Flames fan base in general. Words like disgrace, snobs, idiots - yep you are talking about yourself - and nobody else. China virus?? Are you kidding me? Wow - just wow!
Ok, now you can proceed to cut me down, call me names, swear at me and just generally make yourself look like a fool. I will not be responding here to any more of your comments, I will not waste any more of my time, so you have free reign to trash the hell out of me without any further response from me. - hags11

I agree Kevin
Only problem I see is some of the teams have lost their arenas for the Olympics which would mean they’d have to find another place to play. Would be nice to see them play in Stockton for a few games. |

Hey Trevor
Maybe for one of your future players to add you could look into Jacob Chychurn from the Coyotes. He’d be a heck of an add to this already young defence. Cost might be Valimaki and a 1st. Or am I faking dreaming? |

I think they are going to want a whacko return. He's good but I dont know. I was reading on another forum a real interesting trade with Florida. Straight 1 for 1 Valamaki for Tippett. Both having trouble settling in with their respective teams, both 1st rounders from the same year & picked pretty close to each other. Both fill needs of both teams Florida need a LH D & we need a RW. Perfect fit. Even Florida fans & Flame fans on that thread liked the trade proposal. I like it too. |

Yeah I might be dreaming, it’s pretty hard to propose a trade as all fan bases over value what they want to trade. Don’t know much about Tippet, I still feel Florida owes us one for sending Benny to them.

One can only wish, but agree he’d be a great add. Arizona might be building this new team around him. On another note with all the supposed talent in these next 2 drafts they may want more picks. |
