That is very impressive: poach Carolina’s scouts 🤤
- CanuckDon

Playing against them the other night, they were without their best forward, had one of their top D out as well, 2nd night of a back to back, on the road, with their backup goalie playing, and still put up a hell of a fight against a motivated Canucks team.

Waddell, Tulsky, Rod the Bod and their scouts have all done a great job there. It’s not like they’ve been gifted multiple top 3 picks over the past few years either.

Even meh skaters look fast playing for that team.

you're being facetious but i've wondered why the eff they don't do that.

FA might be a meddlesome idiot but the guy spends money. convince him that rather than spending $36m on louie eriksson, spend $3m and find the best scouts you can. scouts aren't making million dollar salaries so giving them 25-50% raises won't add a lot to the budget.

seriously, identify the best scouts in the game, find out when their contracts are up and offer them substantial raises. one bad player contract will cost more than the best scouting department in the league.

Gunther sucks. At least I think he will. Definitely not a prospect I was excited about. Although I hated the Podz pick and he has turned out ok. Pods > Guenther

Canucks had a lot of young players on the team and needed to surround them with some skilled players. A lot of teams trade first round players to make their team better. They traded 2 firsts like teams like TO CGY and others . Just don't make it three in a row.

You’d likely have to tamper(which I assume isn’t too difficult with travelling scouts). Because the good ones never make it to the official “free agent” stage unless there’s been a front office change. And teams will never let a scout go unless it’s for a promotion, and even then sometimes they’ll just offer a promotion to their guy to keep him in their organization.

I wish a team would ask to interview and hire Ron Delorme.

I wish they had the balls to fire him. Or at least push him out, Linden style, if they’re worried about firing a beloved alumni.

1) tampering wouldn't be hard to do. you don't get an agm or gm to do it but you let your team's scouts talk to other scouts informally as they do during games they attend.

envision it like a soft recruitment of a highschool football player to a college. you lay out the work over a couple of seasons. develop relationships and go from there.

2) obviously, other teams will not willingly let their best talent go. you won't be able to poach every person you want but if you offer overpayment at a substantial level, you'll get some of the guys you want. and serious overpayment for a scout is not like overpaying a player lol.

let's not kid ourselves and think that all teams are willing to overspend off ice.

3) this would be over several seasons and it would not be looked at favourably around the league. it will be clear that the team is trying to poach scouts. this will not make friends. but to that i say... so what?

Wow that’s impressive. I’ve got around 500 cds and we just started purchasing vinyl again. Up to 4 now. No turntable til we hit 50 albums. It’s good to start buying them again, too bad Columbia House went under.
- K-man25

No doubt...

what was it 12 cd's for 1c then pay later?

Wonder how many times that was scammed??

I’m not being facetious. I want the canucks to poach talent from good organizations and stop gifting spots to Alumni (Sedins etc)

Just hire the best talent, don’t care what teams or leagues they played in or where they’re from. As long as their professional and good at their jobs, that’s all that matters

What Canucks have done with RyJo is okay. They have been developing him for years. Bringing in the Sedins and one year later giving them a high position is back to the old wrong way. Much like Linden was a huge mistake.

💯

Why be tied to players that helped create one of the worst orgs in the league. Give them free food, hockey, and some cash when they make public appearances. Stop making them executives and scouts FFS

Because I was born and raised in Vancouver and they are my team. I have hopes that one day they won’t be a joke like the rest of the Canadian teams. Slim hopes but I won’t give up

They need an owner who doesn't live in BC.
