I don't know where that comment from. Nobody was saying that!! You are correct, don't worry, you didn't miss anything. - Kevin Francis
It was strange but at the end of the day, we are all fans and want the best for this team. We should enjoy the good times when they come and try to deal with the low times in a respectful manner.
The team has tons of promise which I don't think anyone can deny but there are also roster holes and management decisions that present obstacles to being a contender. You don't clear that up overnight. It's a journey.
A few legit pieces added to this lineup through development and trading/signings, marinate for a season or two and we should be back to being a perennial playoff team. |

I think just adding Sanderson, Thomson and JBD to their D will make them a contender for a wild card spot next season.
If a couple of their other prospects round out the bottom six and the net works out like it looks it might then they may very well be shopping for a top six RW at the trade deadline the following year. |

Absolutely! Well said my friend!
This whole comment about Stutzle though, the more I think about it, the more it makes no sense. Why didn't DJ play Stutzle at center in the pre-season when they lost White and Bishop? The team had no idea how Pinto was going to do as management said in the summer they thought he should spend a year in the AHL.

No doubt lots of decisions need to be made in the summer, buyouts, acquiring that coveted top 6 forward to play on the 2nd line with Stutzle. Getting extensions done for Norris and Formenton. The team cant afford to have another poor start next year, they cant be nickle and diming Norris either, he needs to be with the team from the start of training camp.

So, if you had to rank all the Ottawa Senator players in terms of most valued asset, who would be your top 10 in order of expected long term value (as a player or as a negotiable trade asset)?
1. Stutzle
2. Tkachuk
3. Chabot
4. Batherson
5. Norris
6. Sanderson
7. Pinto
8, Formenton
9. Zub
10. Thomson
11. JBD
12. Grieg
13. Connor Brown
14. Brannstrom
15. Nick Paul
16. Colin White
Did not include any goaies on list because they are so hard to value. But, short term, the Sens are going to get a lot of phone calls on Forsberg at the deadline.

The Formenton and Norris extensions will be the two most important pieces of business to take care of. Don't overpay Norris but give him what a good, legitimate number two C is worth.
No rush on a top six forward so bide your time and wait for a worthwhile opportunity.
See what you get at the draft because I for one don't think they're going to keep winning for the rest of the season although it is nice to see things starting to gel. If they draft some forward skill that will probably influence any UFA signing to some extent.
I don't expect much on the buyout front except maybe Zaitsev.
Above all please don't let us see Pierre Dorion's new proudest day of his life! |

6. Sanderson
7. Pinto
8, Formenton
9. Zub
10. Thomson

I tend to value goal and D over forwards but leaving out the goal for now I would have Chabot and Sanderson at one and two followed by Tkachuk, Batherson and Norris; then Stutzle, Zub, JBD, Thomson, Formenton, Pinto, Brown, Paul, White, Grieg and rather than Brannstrom I would value Kleven more.
Keep in mind that this is what I think value to the team will be a couple of years down the road when they are serious contenders assuming that they are all still with us. Stutzle might move higher. Grieg and Kleven might also move up a bit. Tyler Boucher? We'll see. |

Top 10
Tkachuk
Chabot
Batherson
Norris
Stutzle
Sanderson
Grieg
Formenton
Pinto
Thomson
Now I wish DJ would stop giving every team they play so much praise and start giving it to his own team 🤷‍♂️ |

My personal top-10 would be as follow, in large part because I also tend to value D-men higher than middle-6 forwards, and have a bias for C vs. W...
Chabot, Thomas
Tkachuk, Brady
Stutzle, Tim
Batherson, Drake
Norris, Josh
Sanderson, Jake
Pinto, Shane
Thomson, Lassi
Bernard-Docker, Jacob
Greig, Ridly
Personally, I'm not convinced that Zub has much of a future with the team beyond next year... when he'll be getting UFA offers from other team, RFA extensions will be needed for Norris & Stutzle, and players like Sanderson, Thomson, and Bernard-Docker will be pushing for ice time. |

The value rankings are good content today. I do think Batherson’s undervalue is showing. The guy is making less than 5 mill a year for the next 5 years and is putting up super star numbers. That pace may not continue but when you take salary into account, he has a huge advantage over Chabot and Tkachuk. However, I probably agree with slotting him behind those two mainly due to what they have brought to the team to date, but it’s an interesting narrative if you look into the next couple of years. Good problem to have. |

I agree with Batherson
Also think Norris is ahead of Stutzle this kid is gonna be a 30/40 goal scorer easily and he will make 6x6 🤷‍♂️ |

We will finally get to see JBD for an extended period of time, at the cost of an injury, which you don't want to see. Zaitsev was actually playing much better hockey lately.

Um. No.

No one in front except our own guy with good chance to deflect the puck.
Rebound would have probably gone to Ottawa too. |

Anything can happen when you deflect the puck. Sending it through 3-4 bodies/sticks is pure randomness. |

As you all know I post a daily blog here NHL betting. I follow the Canaidan teams closely.
During the Sens streak of winning of 5 of 6 games, only in the NJ game did they play the oppositions number one goalie.
TB put Vasilevsky in goal last night and he was the difference. Many teams in the NHL have been serving your team up with their back up goalie. Ottawa deserved the wins they got but I think it's important your fanbase realizes that it's far easier to tee off on the opposition's backup goaltender than the starter. If Ottawa keeps winning or pushing teams to the brink in each game, you will start to see teams taking the Sens more seriously. Therefore seeing better goaltending like last night. Just saying. |

I agree 100% that Stutzle should've shot. Then again if McDonagh doesn't put his stick flat on the ice, that pass going over to Norris - in that position, is also a great decision.
I think with time Timmy needs to learn to shoot. We have to remember that Norris and Stutzle have played almost the same number of NHL games - but Norris is 22 while Stutzle is only 19. Those 3 years makes a big difference - imagine what Timmy will be then
