The Jets organization most likely told him it was over and in order to save face, they most likely would have allowed him to resign. Maurice was speaking about how the team needed a “new voice” in the locker room. I am really unsure about how new the voices are going to be when they include all of the former assistant coaches. I don’t really think there will be much in shift of a philosophy. Also of note, this will be the third Jets coach that Huddy will be serving under. - TheUltimateJet
Exactly, bringing in an assistant or someone from within doesn't seem to fit the "new voice" idea. |

I heard on CJOB this morning the team is #31 on PK. This is hilariously bad. |

Not defending Scheifele but part of the reason for him getting so many more minutes is that they're often chasing games trying to score, if they actually got some offense from Lowrys line they wouldn't be chasing games as often as they are, Lowry being an offensive black hole is a liability. - JetFuel
Just to play devils advocate, the reason they are chasing games is the poor defensive play from Shiefele that leads to goals against. |

Let’s be honest here, Lowry is not the defensive shutdown force he has been cast as being. |

It is bad. I am not sure if it is Huddy or Lowry that does the PK. I always thought that Huddy was responsible for the defense, while Lowry was responsible for special teams. Either way, I do think that the entire coaching staff should have left with Maurice.
Outside of getting that initial new coach “bump”, I do not see Dave Lowry being any better than dear Uncle Paul. |

I thought Kompon was the special teams coach, in charge of both the PP and PK, I could be totally wrong about that though. |

I could be wrong too. I always thought that was the reason that Lowry was brought in. |

Beverly Wynne on the microphone this evening. Hoping she brings us some good luck! |

Do you know who would kick the Jet's talent in the ass and give them a jolt?! BOB HARTLEY! |

Claude Julien would be perfect for the Jets. Another guy that should be a head coach in this league is Luke Richardson. |

So much for a new coach bump, they still look like junk.
I was one of the few that thought they needed another top 6 forward in the off-season but I was told no, they only needed to fix the defense, I still think adding a top 6 forward would've had a positive impact.
The Caps were missing tons of their top talent and beat the Jets with a lot of no name filler players, one being former Moose and AHL veteran Mike Sgarbossa, so much for the Jets having a deep team and a loaded offense. |

Our bottom six is pretty close to useless, the only one I have much hope for is Gus, the rest can go away.

It's defensive structure that's killing this team. You give up almost 40 SOG. Like KF said above, Claude Julien is the master at putting in a system for teams to play a 200 foot game and that is what the Jets need!

It's like the Flyers, you need to bring in a new coach not promote an asst. coach from within. Like a fresh voice. Chicago brought in their AHL coach and its helped, Vancouver brought in Boudreau, fresh voice. Promoting from within the team, with an asst. coach who in a lot of cases is the go-between with the players and the HC, now the players can t be as buddy buddy with him, it doesn't work. |

I think their offensive zone structure is killing them too though, probably moreso then their defensive structure is. They don't score enough and they don't often get much sustained pressure in the offensive zone, they're too spread apart which leads to loss possession all the time, still looks like they're playing overly defensive like their D core is still crap so a forward has to hang back to cover/support the D. The forwards rarely attack/enter the offensive zone as a unit, its one guy on his own with little to no puck support or passing option which leads to the opposition easily pressuring the Jet off the puck and the opposition easily exiting their zone.
I've got time for Claude Julien, really think Boudreau was the guy the Jets needed and I'm not just saying that cause of the Canucks recent success with him. |

Oh I agree, while I think Maurice needed to go I also don't think promoting any of the assistants was the answer either short term or long AND the fact that Lowry is one of the players dads is pathetic, is this a kids team?.. lol
Hate to say it but unless they get their guy in there that can get them going with better systems the season is lost if it isn't already. |

Nope haven't heard anything, the Jets game against Nashville has been postponed though. |

All cros border games are postponed until after the Christmas break.
Nice game for Nik, 4 points. |

Ehlers is a franchise player. Our former coach did not realize the impact that Nik can have on games. I am hoping that new Uncle or Daddy Dave, as I like to call him is able to use him to his full potential! |

Yeah Ehlers is awesome, fun to watch and seems like a good kid!
Was looking at the Jets stats and Ehlers has one less point then Dubois but Ehlers has four more even strength points then PLD, it'd be interesting to see a breakdown of empty net points, tried to find a site that had that info but couldn't find one, I'm curious to know who's stats are padded with empty net points.
I know many like to dismiss +/- these days but Connor, Scheifele and Wheeler are all negative players whereas Ehlers, PLD, Copp, Stastny and Svechnikov are all plus players.
Yes hopefully papa Lowry will be able to get the most out of all these guys and will put them in the best positions to flourish individually, was really glad to see Vesalainen given a shot with PLD and KC, thought Vesa looked decent with them too. |
