Bieksa had no broadcast experience prior to his gig with HNIC, arguably the biggest stage in hockey broadcasting. - 1970vintage
Apples and oranges, he’s not in an executive position within the CBC, he’s simply commenting on the game. |

Although intelligent and experienced in playing hockey, she has no front office experience. AGM should have some experience, at least imo, not just be hired because of their race or gender. - LeftCoaster
By the sounds of things, they are going to have 4 or 5 AGM's, I don't think having a person with minimal front office experience will be a problem, especially if the others are experienced and the other one is a sharp-minded individual.
Although the position might say AGM, the role could be similar to a Director of______, position.
I personally want to see the Canucks hire the sharpest available minds, which I believe Jennifer Botterill is. |

Wasn’t the guy they just hired a head scout and now he’s an AGM? - 1970vintage
Clancy spent 15 years in the Penguins organization working his way up.
“Clancey, 52, was hired in Calgary this past summer. He spent the previous 15 years in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. He was originally tapped as a pro scout in 2007 by then-GM Ray Shero. Rutherford inherited Clancey as director of pro scouting, then promoted him in 2019 to director of player personnel after becoming a trusted advisor on transactions and signings.” |

I can’t see Aquilini going from two executives up to ten, he’s too cheap for that. If they’ve got the right support systems in place I could see them hiring her for sure. |

NEW - This afternoon’s Vancouver Canucks game at Rogers Arena against the Toronto Maple Leafs and tomorrow night’s game at Rogers Arena against the Arizona Coyotes have both been postponed due to COVID. - VanHockeyGuy

But don’t you think he should have started his broadcasting career in a more introductory role? An intermission host on a local broadcast, a sit in personality on hometown hockey. An AGM is a pretty specialized position, and if the candidate has expertise in that area than title doesn’t really matter. |

4-5-6….I’ve lost count. I went to Fry’s this morning at 9am and only a few of us didn’t have masks on. Made me think, going to start following my wife’s lead and wear a mask in all public spaces. |

Didn't someone post here that the Canucks want 3 assistant GMs and one GM? It sounds to me like FA is trying to do the opposite of what he's been doing in the past. |

As of tomorrow, i believe masks will be mandated in restaurants when not sitting/eating. My wife said there was no less than 20 cars at a time in the line up all day yesterday and Thursday to get tested for covid at SPH. Starting to get really bad. |

He did, to the best of recollection. He had a guest spot and did so well they started putting him on more and more until he became a regular. |

And? Do these other people have less relevant experience? Just because you are a scout with an NHL team doesn’t mean you will make a good executive. How Jim Benning past an interview I will never understand. There is no way that he could possibly have discussed his vision for the franchise in a way that could make an owner say “yes, that’s the guy!”. |

This is a good thing potentially: let everyone get it and maybe we can finally move on. It is really mild |

The problem is Don, that old white guys are biased towards old (or young) white guys. They won’t admit it, they likely don’t recognize it, but it happens every day in western culture. It’s why guys like Babcock, Tortarella, Vigneault etc keep getting another opportunity. |

That may be true but that also doesn’t make it right to not hire old white guys if they are the best candidates. Hire a women in a similar capacity to the Sedins. Let them learn and earn a promotion. |

This is already the case Codes. Proof of vaccine and government issued photo ID and masked up in public spaces. The table is your personal bubble - though I think it’s a stupid rule, as four people at a table laughing and talking is far more likely to project virus than someone walking to the washroom on their own… |

I think if you’ve been fully vaccinated the symptoms are mild. |
