do tell ?
he just has not been eye popping for me. I was more impressed shown from the skills from Rookie Kevin Hayes (chose him because of the skating equality) - Greschnergy#4
I can't sit here and tell you why he is the consensus. I didn't scout him and don't have the know how to analyze him in that manner anyway. I can only go off the scouting reports and the fact that all of the pros had him at #1. It wasn't like there was some 1a b and c thing going on. Some theorized that the Rangers might take Byfield or Stutzle at #1 based on need but most pros/pundits said that was never gonna happen.
Heck, 1 and 2 OA were closer for 2019 when some thought Kakko might have edged out Hughes for 1OA and that the Devils may go that route instead. |

Traded Ralph Backstrom to the Kings during the year so they finished ahead of the Golden Seals, whose pick GM Sam pollack had acquired in an exchange of selections the prior year. California ended up with the first overall pick which Montreal used to take Lafleur. - airjan23
Oof, that's a rough trade. Thank you for the history lesson Jan. I missed that note on the Wiki page. |

If Brukie is right and we have no chance to win this year- then send Laf down and get him 22 mins a night of first line duty. Build up that confidence- Its not like he is needed on this team as we are currently constructed. if he was a RW I might think differently |

Of course its not gonna happen, but its something in 5yrs we will look back on as whether we should or shouldnt have. - aecliptic
Or Laf could score the game winning goal against Wright's team to advance further in the playoffs. |

Now you've done it.
The reason why they won't send him down for seasoning in the AHL is because that ship has sailed. I don't see a scenario where Laf gets sent down at this point in his career. |

In a perfect world come trade deadline, and end of KHL season, Id like to see…
LAF, Zib, Krav
Panarin, Pavelski or Giroux, Strome
Kreider, [Not Chytil], Kakko
Its very unlikely they pull guys from the Wolfpack until their season is over. I think theyre gonna make a full run at the Calder Cup. |

Ship has definitely sailed. It should have been done during the COVID season. |

While you may be right, if there is a need at the top club I doubt they view the Calder cup as a deterrent to bringing guys up.
I would def like to see Krav back. I just doubt it.

That may have been the best decision back then but they weren't sure what they had in him. Maybe if Gallant was here Laf gets off to a different start. Maybe he goes to the AHL?

You can bytch and moan all season if you want about everything under the sun about what’s wrong with them, or get on board the train, but the NYR are gonna have their own run at a better cup
