anything can happen in the playoffs, especially when you have a Hart finalist, a Norris winner and a Vezina candidate - jimbro83

They just need to get there. The experience will be invaluable regardless of outcome. |

i dont think weve shown we can win even a round without shesty stealing a few, even considering our record - picklerick
But he's still part of the team. He can cover up some of the deficiencies until they are resolved either by improved play or outside additions. |

I think they will use the money at the deadline for an expiring contract - Greschnergy#4
Thats why Im bringing up Pavelski and Giroux. Theyre both on expiriing contracts. Both are excellent at faceoffs, Giroux being one of the best in the league. Both also play RW. We dont need either team to retain money, so we wont have to pay anything extra. Were one of the few teams in the league looking towards the playoffs who can say that. |

if he could stop parking his fat ass infront of our goalie and work on breakout passes he can stay - picklerick
Nemeth is someone who is definitely a replacement level player in my eyes. I doubt the coach(s) feel the same though. They probably love the guy. |

It wouldnt be the worst thing to cut his 5 x5 minutes and give some of it to Lindy. Especially off defensive draws

I think you are right here - if they become available at the deadline- The rangers will be players for them

I worry about Miller and his stick play. He relies too damn much on it and doesnt use his body to cut people off into the boards. |

he's screened his own goalie for at least 2 powerplay goals against that i can remember. pretty sure he tried to catch the puck one of the times
look i dont think he's the worst bottom pairing guy you can have but if we can upgrade with a rental using the space we have i'd say that's a good place for an upgrade. It's that and a top 6 forward |

It's definitely frustrating, especially someone with his size. Trouba couldn't be modeling what he should be partially basing his play on any better. |

if he started using his body the sky would be the limit for him. i think the stick play is just so damn ingrained in his DnA for some reason |

Honestly- have you noticed the last few games that he's taking the body more? I think they are working with him on this. Its his 2nd year and like Jan likes to say defensemen's growth is not linear (except Fox )

OK i know this will be an unpopular opinion, but what about asking about Burns and seeing if he'd go to RW again? You'd think SJ would give him up for a song, and probably retain salary. He's signed for 3 more years, but he's 36 and if he retires that's really not a big deal.
I've watched him this year, he hasn't lost anything offensively, his defense is a bit suspect. I think he could still be a forward though

When you spend your whole life basically being the biggest kid on the ice with NHL talent, you get used to using your stick and not the body cause you never had to.

And how many times has he blocked shots? He has to be near the top of the team in that stat; but you remember only the negative. I will agree with this- if they can move his contract in the offseason that would be huge.

i dont think SJ or DAL are ready to give up on their seasons yet so the likelihood we get anyone out of either team right now is probably slim |

because that just gets into hypotheticals that the Sharks need to keep 50% of the contract and all that, and there are cap re-capture penalties if he does retire

like i said, it's not all bad with him. and yes, it's easier to remember the negatives. but, i wonder how inflated those blocked shots are with unnecessarily blocked shots vs ones that prevented scoring chances and how much of a net negative or positive he has been in doing so. +/- is by no means a super important stat but he is a -7, which is worst on the team |

The specific reason I want Pavelski or Giroux is their ability to play center and wing. Both of them are winning over 55% of their draws. This now gives us someone on the PK that we can rely on to win defensive zone draws. This now gives us someone to center and lead the PP2. We can go even further and spread it out and have them play between LAF and Gaut with a rolling 3 line attack. |

I don't think he's ever played Wing at the NHL level. Not saying he can't because look at Brendan Smith. He's also making too much to consider taking on for 3 years.

BUT HE IS WHO WE ARE TALKING ABOUT!
The way i see it we can, and should probably, get some rentals up in here and top 6 forward and bottom pairing defenseman are the 2 places we should upgrade if we can. Mark Giordano round 2 comes to mind |

Those years that he was Burns was putting up crazy points he was playing wing on the PP a lot and his success there had the team use him as a forward every so often as well. |
