The JV/McCann draft was squandered.
Early bad trade to try to help D.
A meddling FA pick.

Big opportunity was lost. It’s what happens after then & now that counts.

I dismiss it as JB’s 1st draft & a meddling owner. It was a big whiff as it has turned out. Demko was redemption. Character & attitude went by the wayside which is high priority for 1sts in my world.

Michael Dal Colle and Josh Ho Sang.

Jakob Zboril, Jake Debrusk, Zachary Senyshyn.

I'd say getting two players that scored over a 100 points in the first round is not a whiff.

What was done after with them was the bigger problem.

Morgan Klimchuk, Emile Poirer.

JB defined it as Euro skill & Canadian heart. That didn’t apply to JV but has with McCann mostly.
He had it right but didn’t execute it hence why imo JV was a FA pick. Add to that it was WD coaching & lack of depth forced the both into playing too soon. That was on Gillis. Those who wanted patience & draft & develop were right & cost us some years of bad hockey. With too many NMC’s & NTC’s it’s apparent it was going to be painful & it was going for the PO’s to appease an owner which was the root of all the setbacks & delay.

The Euro Skill, NA heart came later on, after the "meat and potatoes" stage.

Two rookie coaches in a row. FA that cheap bastard.

In his own mind no doubt but still hasn’t improved on other details eg FO skills strength on his feet & it’s obvious to me his work ethic is far from worth 7m.

Last time I looked his face off % improved but it's been a while since I looked.

He relies on speed & nothing else. No imagination or other strategy.

On his general play he doesn’t stand out or is a threat very often at all. Looking lost & not knowing how to adapt to impact the game.

On a totally different topic…

Points% should be more accurate.
A 3pt game loss is 1 of 3 pts not 1 of 2. Imo OTL loser points are skewing totals & stupid by their very nature.

Fantastic read & a player fans can love & adore. Great addition 👍

Getting another warrior with immense character is how championship teams get built.

Let's compared.

Tyler Johnson - Conor Garland
Yanni Gourde - Nils Hoglander
Brayden Point - Quinn Hughes
Blake Coleman - Jason Richardinson
Nikita Kucherov -
Ondrej Palat - Bo Horvat
Anthony Cirelli - Elias Petttersson
Alex Killorn - JT Miller
Ryan McDonough -
Steven Stamkos - Brock Boeser
Barclay Goodrow - Vasili Podkolzin
Luke Schenn - Luke Schenn
Jan Ruuta- Kyle Burroughs
Pat Maroon -
Erik Cernak -
Mikhail Sergachev - OEL
Victor Hedman - Tyler Myers

Canucks are just missing 2 top 4 D and a super elite scoring forward. Plus some old guy who's tough. Mix in some spare parts.

#Canucks prospects we could see at next year’s WJC.

🇧🇾-Klimovich
🇸🇪-Lucas Forsell-Jonathan Myrenberg
🇫🇮-Aku Koskenvuo

A long shot on 🇨🇦-Connor Lockhart as well.

I am disappointed in Seattle.

Hopefully Francis can gain some draft picks for the team for this draft.

You can’t get 3 points and points% is only a way of measuring how two (or more) teams who have played a different number of games are doing relative to each other.

Don't quote me on this but I don't think Francis was allowed to do all the back-door deals that Mcphee did to get that Vegas expansion team into contention. I heard at one time Mcphee had something like 47 deals going on at the same time lol. No shock Seattle is where they are.

I think it's more that teams were hosed so badly by Vegas that they weren't going to do it again, not that Francis couldn't make deals like that, it's just teams had that experience and could better prepare for the e-draft and not have to make stupid deals like trade Marchessault or Shea Theadore in order for Vegas to pick someone useless off of their roster for their e-draft pick.

Mcphee is to Vegas is what Gillis was to the canucks.

Vegas better win soon, because it won't be long before they are old and slow with a very shallow prospect pool. Every 1st round pick or drafted 1st rounder I believe has been dealt.

Lol Myers is nowhere near Hedman. That’s like saying your 83 Buick skylark that runs sometimes is equivalent to someone else’s Ferrari
