Monahan only has a year left. That's good for the Flames.

Why would Montreal have any interest in Monahan if they're selling off assets? You don't want to trade firsts, but it's going to take multiple firsts if you want Gallagher and Montreal to take on Monahan's contract.

Wouldn't this same logic apply to Gallagher and Andersons contracts that you refer to as Albatrosses?

What? Monahan's contract has a year left after this one. Gallagher and Anderson have 5. 5 is 4 more years than one. What logic are you talking about?

Common sense. Go ask a Habs fan how much interest they have in trading for Monahan. He's nothing more than a cap problem right now and the Flames will have to pay someone to take him.

He has 8 5v5 goals in his past 78 games. Who wants that for six million?

100% agree with you on Mony's contract being a cap problem or he likely would have been traded by now... but that said you refer to Gallagher and Andersons contracts as albatrosses so if that's correct why would any GM not expect a discount on any trade involving them the same way they would Mony?

It would make sense if they did, but teams never worry about the contract until it's awful. It would absolutely help the Habs in the long run to trade Gallagher now for whatever they can get, but there's almost no chance of that happening. They'd never trade him unless the return was a massive overpay.

Your logic is flawed.
Go back and read what you’ve wrote.

Monahan trade, Flames have to add picks to get rid of.
Gallagher has 4 goals and 6 assists this year and would require a huge overpayment to be traded?

I could see Arizona taking on Monahans contract with picks for Jacob Chycrun and maybe Kessel.
What do you think it would take?

Adding Chycrun and Kessel and subtracting Mony would make us a better team today for sure.

It’s gonna be Toffoli. Treliving gets rock hard at the thought of adding any ex-Canucks

Why not Roussel then? Then he can kick Bo’s ass.

If it weren’t for the cap, he’d probably kick the tires on that whole trio of Vancouver Coyotes
