The NHL catches a serious break this year if the players don't go to the Olympics by having all that time to make up games. there also comes a point at which every player in the league becomes more immune from Covid by actually contracting the disease...-EK

Maybe Gorton sent out a large cash donation to each GM in their Christmas Cards.

there's a sentence in that piece that I'm not entirely sure qualifies as english....unless it's ye ol' english.

And the Canadians were SO aggressive this weekend they did nothing right up to the Christmas roster freeze

Why would they get rid of Gally unless they are absolutely blown away by an offer? The trade proposals floating around the interwebs are very underwhelming considering what Gally means and brings to the team.

I think this story has a little misinformation in it.

I am not sure that just because you caught COVID that you are immune to it and especially its variants.

I know easily a dozen people who had COVID who got it again even with a vaccine. Perhaps not as bad but if you are an NHL player and lose 5% of your overall performance - I might argue you might be lucky to be in the AHL when it is all over if not out of pro hockey completely.

So the Habs are feeling doom and other GMs not so much. I doubt they’ll fire sale these players. But if they deal then it will be interesting to see if they get market value.

Having COVID does NOT make anyone immune to further infection. That’s a gross error and demonstrates a poor understanding of this disease and infectious diseases more generally. At best, it confers a degree of protection equal to a rather inefficient vaccine and while better than zero protection, it’s the second least effective method (the first one being no vaccine at all).

Gorton promised transparency. What you are suggesting is a rebuild. While most expect that rebuild is the route he will take he hasn't announced that. He said he was taking his time to evaluate the assets and plan a course of action. He also hasn't named a GM. Everyone knows this team isn't as bad as it looks. We now totally know the coach has lost the team. There are about 3 players and a goalie who are performing up to expectations. You replace that coach you might be disappointed you got rid of some of the afore mentioned guys. Unless you are going to rebuild and again he promised transparency....if he's going to do that expect him to tell us. Now if I heard he was shopping people there is one guy who is bound to be headed out of town on a chariot.

Why does Montreal feel its so urgent to trade these 5 players? Chiarot is a UFA so that makes sense. But every other guy your 4 sources mentioned is under contract for multiple years. The Habs could simply wait until the off-season when so many more teams would have the cap and roster flexibility to be a trade partner. This makes very little sense. But 4 different sources couldn't be wrong...so I'm excited!

yes, you do gain some immunity, at least to that variant, and often many others. Vaccines work by tricking your body into thinking you've caught the virus, so it learns how to produce antibodies. When you actually get the virus, you're body learns to produce the antibodies in the same manner as if you've taken a vaccine. often better.

Covid has proven that to be incorrect. You can get covid multiple times, and re-infection with the same variant is possible.
