This is not a strong forward group. Brock 9 G Petey 5 Bo 10 Miller 10 Pearson 4

A bad start to the year and suddenly the forward group that most agreed was one of the better groups in the NHL is weak

Interesting take from Bruce B.

Makes a ton of sense. Many players need big minutes to impact games with D leading the way. Adding that the PK has more bodies used on it keeps players more engaged & not pigeon holed so they get cold.

I can see Pearson getting moved.
- VanHockeyGuy

Maybe but he’s finally in a position of the 3rd wheel where he should be. Line dynamics is much better under BB.

It’s not the Green era anymore. The stale start went on him.

I’d like to see more games under Bruce before deciding but they definitely need a Center.
- Nucker101

More games yes as for a C I’d rather more FO skills get practiced. Brock does ok on the dot as a righty. He took FO’s at ND. Idc if a winger stands in.

Benning was also the issue, good riddance both are gone. With any luck Rutherford & Boudreau can turn this team around quick.
- VanHockeyGuy

Disagree other than him resigning Green. Idk if FA was involved or not. Having no Pres was a serious disadvantage. Now 8yrs didn’t get the results needed & earned the axe. Better to place him back into scouting.

Thanks for the update Carol. If the Canucks want to avoid a $7.5m qualifying offer for Boeser, just sign him to a team friendly long term extension. If he’s not in the long term plans then buck up $7.5 for one season and trade him next year.

We’ll then that’s an underwhelming top 6 Travis.

Disagree. It wasn’t “one of the best in the league”, it was “the best of the Benning Era”

Benning was probably the worst GM in franchise history.

Hard to argue against that. Also faced with many challenges. He just didn’t do enough good but did set it up ok.

My nod goes to Dave Nonis but it’s a toss up between him and JB.

It’s always easier to blame a GM after picking up the pieces of a bare cupboard & problem contracts. JB did have an opportunity to be a great GM if he got it done. He wasn’t close so he’ll get branded as an easy target. MG inherited the best roster of any Canucks GM. He also left the biggest mess.

JR’s challenge is stocking the prospect pool & getting the most bang for the cap buck. BB can & has gotten more production & value out of his roster. Upcoming drafts will be very important as well as developing current prospects.

What the hell are you talking about? Where did someone say they are weak? Some of you need to improve your reading and comprehensive skills

forward group and goalie is definitely good enough to work with. It’s the lack of solid top dmen under the age of 30 in the organization that’s a big problem. Overall prospect depth is lacking, need more ELC contributions in the future if you want to hand out raises to the guys on the team. And it’s not like Rutherford has all his picks for the upcoming draft either

Plus even Rutherford said the cap will be a challenge, clearly not a fan of Benning’s cap management lol

It’s hard to find quality top 4 dmen that fit this team’s timeline when you have a weak prospect pool, can’t afford to trade picks and are tight against the cap

Pretty much agree. More specifically lack of RHD prospects & mid 6 C’s. Not worried on LHD. Never say no to elite playmakers or snipers if draftable.
