That sounds like the perfect opening line for a new Lee Child book.

Benning was the end of Benning. How could Reacher blame anybody else for the carnage he saw before him. The wreckage covered four football fields and as the olive green Humvee pulled away with Benning handcuffed in the back, Reacher knew he would never see him again, but the questions still lingered. “Why bring this on? What was his end game? How could he not have seen this coming?”

I read this too fast and thought it said "to" and spit up a little coffee. Was thinking of vacation movie with the dog tied to the bumper.

We’re having Xmas lasagna.
2015 Fitz Brut
2015 Tantalus Chardonnay
2012 La Frenz Cab Sauv
2012 Culmina Hypothesis
2016 JT Riesling Ice Wine.

If you’re having turkey, here’s some interesting wines you might not have had:

Alsace Gewurztraminer (France)
White Rioja (Spain)
White Chareauneuf-du-Pape (France)
US similar - Paso Robles Rhône blends (white). Tablas Creek for example, they make excellent wines.

Reds - splurge, get yourself a right bank Bordeaux from St. Emilion or Pomerol. Or for more delicate get a premier cru red Burgundy from the Cotr de Nuits - Morey St Denis, Gevrey Chambertin, Vosne Romanee. Too many great producers to mention, but if you have $ to burn, Comte de Vogue or Armand Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Bez (probably be in the $400 range)

The news of Bob McCammon's passing sent me down the rabbit hole to the 1989 playoffs.

I've got that, plus some WJC thoughts, in the new blog.
