I get that some find it offensive (it's hard to find something that doesn't offend anyone these days lol) but to me there's no such thing as the "R-word". I've worked for around 10 years with people that have intellectual disabilities and mental health issues, and retarded simply isn't a word that comes to mind when I think about them. it is a perfect term however to describe most of your comments here...

I dunno how you guys wait until Boxing Day for gifts. I imagine there are plenty of kids who are like Veruca Salt who “want it now!”
I’ve always been bad at receiving presents. Don’t know why. There’s always been something in my head that doesn’t like being handed things. But I do love giving them.

who exactly waits until boxing day to unwrap gifts..? personally I don't know anyone who does that, it's always on the 24th and/or 25th.
also, making others feel awkward when receiving a gift is one of the best parts of christmas, you should always cherish those moments.
