pappy van winkle is the supposed holy grail of bourbon. they're impossible to find and it pushed the prices to ultra ridiculous levels. he also had a bottle of the 23 year old (he was pretty wealthy) that had already been opened and we drank that over the years. but this one was never opened.

i never thought i'd ever even hold a bottle of pappy van winkle in my hands. now i've tasted 2 and one of the bottles is mine. opening it did feel weird for some reason but she said nobody would appreciate it like i would and that he would want me to have it. i only poured a little. this will be for special occasions.

the party animal side of me made me overlook the fact that you can always open the bottle but only drink it on very special occasions, so it could last a very long time...

nah, it doesn't say that anywhere, the "Reserve 12" means it's 12 years old... besides it wouldn't make any sense that the price drops from almost 1800$ a bottle to 150$ if you're buying 12 of them.

that could be it, which would mean the demand for that particular bottle is so high it now sells for more than 10 times its original price... but it says on the SAQ website that the product is unavailable, so it could always just be a very obsolete/inaccurate pricing.
