The Vancouver Canucks announced today that forwards Brock Boeser and Phillip Di Giuseppe, in addition to one support staff member in Vancouver have been placed into the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.

At least Brock can get him to make some good pizza for him

at this point it's inevitable that every player will get it, it's almost better to just get it all over with asap

Four players tested positive at WJC and they shut it down.

yeah, but as mentioned, that's a different situation. Those players are "on loan"

I am no expert on this but everywhere you go malls schools theatres all operating to full capacity. It seems like things are being done half assed. I don't see a real difference of 9000 fans at a game or 18000. It still only takes one contact to get it.

It really does sound like a common cold or mild flu. I am struggling to see the drastic measures taken on one hand and the loosie goosey measures on the other.

Always has been a cold or mild flu. Nice to see questioning though.

I am sure different people are getting it more extreme than others . I have heard many people say it is like a cold or the flu. I am not doubting the severity varies. I just don't get how having 9 000 people in a building helps anyone. Schools operate at full capacity , malls are overflowing .

I go back to what Bloated said the other day, this disease is not going anywhere anytime soon. The question for me is do you shut down the world again , do things half assed or continue normal life and accept the numbers that are dealt ?

My girlfriend as well as at least 20 buddies have it. All but one of them have described it as a mild flu: time to open up. Let’s get herd immunity over with.

The main problem is that, the more it spreads, the more it mutates. Mutations are unpredictable.
I agree they need to stop half assing. Either go full ban mode, or don't ban anything.

A flu with a bad sore throat. Granted, my social circle is between the ages of 25-45.

I had 2 friends almost die in hospital. Most have said a bad cold, worst they ever had. Some people were bed ridden for days.
Several have bad after effects, like breathing issues, etc.

my brother in law is 33 and my sister is 30. Symptoms include sore throat, nauseau, cold sweats, fever, cough, runny nose, etc.

They both basically said for them, its a flu on steroids, basically meaning its a seasonal flu x10.

Their baby is 14 months old and is basically experiencing the same things as them but to lesser extents (no more fever)

one of the issues is that E-Health does not tell you what variant you have when you test. My sister asked to be notified if it was Omicron or not but they dont say, and when you check your results, it only tells you if you are positive for Covid or not.

i agree. I am getting really sick of these reactionary measures. I also don't understand how they are ok with packing the malls with thousands of people on boxing day, but won't allow for socially distanced and mask mandated gym's with reservations. They can pack a stadium with 9000 people but have cancelled certain businesses's that are willing and able to accomodate masks, social distancing, disinfecting and other mandates. They really need to figure this out and stop acting only when cases get really bad, as like you and bloated said, this isn't going away anytime soon, so lets just figure out a way to be safe and continue on living.

Well said. Closing gyms is beyond disgusting. People can get wasted at the casino and bars but they can’t stay fit. News flash Bonnie, obese people are more effected by COVID

Every time I drive by the high school on west side Quesnel I shake my head. A couple of hundred kids standing in large groups with no masks being loaded onto the school buses. Only the driver and the occasional kid wearing a mask. I know the principle at that school... he's a fishing buddy. He says they see kids at low risk. But just like flu season, no one spreads it more than kids who bring it home and it goes from there... in reality, we are all just going through the motions while it gets countered by so many contradictory things that are in control of the policy makers.
