John Madden dies at 85.
Now this one hurts...

- carsonagenic

Sure does. I was a huge Raider fan in his day til the Seahawks came along to split my loyalty.

That’s an uneven decision.

Can we blame Alberta?
- A_SteamingLombardi

Well they aren’t exactly leaders in respecting covid. A poor vax rate aka male redneck mentality in Lil Texas North.

Well said. Closing gyms is beyond disgusting. People can get wasted at the casino and bars but they can’t stay fit. News flash Bonnie, obese people are more effected by COVID

I go to anytime fitness here on the island, and I go at 5am, not a single person in the entire gym until around 6. It's been so great for mental health, being able to get away from work, before work, and just play music and get a good workout in.

I just hate these reactionary decisions. So they close certain places down, covid cases may go down for a bit, only to rinse and repeat every single time we get a mutation or variant. We have to figure out permanent ways to be safe and keep living at this point.

Every time I drive by the high school on west side Quesnel I shake my head. A couple of hundred kids standing in large groups with no masks being loaded onto the school buses. Only the driver and the occasional kid wearing a mask. I know the principle at that school... he's a fishing buddy. He says they see kids at low risk. But just like flu season, no one spreads it more than kids who bring it home and it goes from there... in reality, we are all just going through the motions while it gets countered by so many contradictory things that are in control of the policy makers.

My eldest daughters preschool had a teacher test positive so we have kept her home thr last 2 weeks. We were exposed on Christmas day by my sister so we are self monitoring for 14 days (no symptoms yet). Schools are scary, they go by a different set of rules than everyone else. Just a disgusting mess of germs lol.

I feel for you. The common flu & cold are one thing but ppl railing against this pandemic & all of the precautions in place still has a severe effect on the populous. Do I agree with govt forcing this on ppl no but too many ppl do as they please & this is necessary. Been in camps & had the flu more than once where as I rarely get sick. Why is that cuz males don’t give a poop about others & pass it on. Anyone working in industrial sites know what I speak of when it comes down to selfish macho bs.

Yep the "get er done" attitude of camp life spreads this like wildfire. We had almost 2000 cases at Horizon, dozens of hospializations, 3 deaths. In my dept. We had 9 guys out of 12 get it. 3 asyptmatic, 5 sick with worst flu they ever had, me in the hospital and covid hotel for 2 weeks, and 1 intubated for 2 weeks, survived and learning to walk again. So a little varied for sure.

my brother in law is 33 and my sister is 30. Symptoms include sore throat, nauseau, cold sweats, fever, cough, runny nose, etc.

They both basically said for them, its a flu on steroids, basically meaning its a seasonal flu x10.

Their baby is 14 months old and is basically experiencing the same things as them but to lesser extents (no more fever)

one of the issues is that E-Health does not tell you what variant you have when you test. My sister asked to be notified if it was Omicron or not but they dont say, and when you check your results, it only tells you if you are positive for Covid or not.

- Codes1087

Which is bullish*t considering they charge you $75 minimum to tell you what you already know.

News Flash is they don’t care about our health but rather controlling and monitoring the population.

Solid proof of the severity of this flu & respect that needs to ramp up from individuals & not leaving it solely to the govt mandating.

It's 375 for a rapid test. The queues are too big to test people who are mildly sick and are told to just self isolate. I fully expect the confirmed cases are about a third of what they truly are.

In my case it told me something different than what I thought, and helped me get properly treated from there.

💯 I’m fairly certain I have it but there is no point getting tested. I work from home. I suspect it’s 20X what is actually being reported. I know more people that have it (or think they may/ have been exposed) than don’t have it. This is a good thing imo

Boils down to ppl being extra cautious. How they do that is their choice but must be ensuring minimal transmission as best as possible. We don’t need any govt intervening if we take on the onus. From there it is what it is. Nobody likes it but we we need to get through this til it is under reasonable control.

I’m pretty fortunate as my work is off & on & I only shop when necessary & I don’t extend it. Still that all said it’s not ideal. Giving up freedoms & being shut in a lot is not fun for anyone.

My sister was able to jump the queue because she's an RN, but my brother in law was told the testing times was 4 to 5 days. My mom has mild symptoms and when she called, they told her to self isolate for 5 days and monitor symptoms. The BC testing is being stretched thin right now.

I think you're right. The reported numbers are probably a fraction of the real positive cases.

i agree. I am getting really sick of these reactionary measures. I also don't understand how they are ok with packing the malls with thousands of people on boxing day, but won't allow for socially distanced and mask mandated gym's with reservations. They can pack a stadium with 9000 people but have cancelled certain businesses's that are willing and able to accomodate masks, social distancing, disinfecting and other mandates. They really need to figure this out and stop acting only when cases get really bad, as like you and bloated said, this isn't going away anytime soon, so lets just figure out a way to be safe and continue on living.

We had optional rapid tests Mon Wed & Friday at Teck in trail it took 10-15mins for results. I went each day for peace of mind as well as not infect anyone. I can tell you not many ppl chose to. Overall it all went well on the job but there were a few who caught it & sent home as well as close contacts no option. The strain to get the job done magnified but idgaf about timelines tbh. Those who partied were the main culprits.

Looks like Dylan Cozens has been placed on Taxi squad. I laughed to myself the other day when someone mentioned Buf doesn't need Petey they have Cozens.

I keep trying big trades on CF & no matter how I slice it or to try to improve it leaves holes. The best is to jettison a player or 2 somehow. It’s a process unless JR pulls a rabbit outta his hat. We don’t have enough assets to really swing big deals.

What about something like Dahlin + Cozens for Petey +Rathbone?

Cozens can easily be brought up on our 3rd or 4th line. Hughes is more than capable of playing as a RD.

We need to stock up ELC’s with high upside. We hope current kids keep improving in impactful ways. Still 2-3yrs away from getting us fully positioned to contend. Going to take the team as built to make big strides as the stepping stone.
