What about something like Dahlin + Cozens for Petey +Rathbone?
Cozens can easily be brought up on our 3rd or 4th line. Hughes is more than capable of playing as a RD.
OEL - Hughes
Dahlin - Myers - Retinalz
Do that in a heart beat but Buf would have to be gaga about it. Idk if that’s the case. On the right track imo. Gotta be a big trade for big rewards longterm.
I keep trying big trades on CF & no matter how I slice it or to try to improve it leaves holes. The best is to jettison a player or 2 somehow. It’s a process unless JR pulls a rabbit outta his hat. We don’t have enough assets to really swing big deals. - Nighthawk
If I was the new GM / Pres I would look at the next thirty games and see who is who and what he has in the barn. I would start off with a trade maybe on the bottom 6 add some true skilled toughness and look at the D after this coaching change . I would go for the home run in the offseason but would not be in an immediate hurry.
I still think most overate Petey's value.
First 2 Seasons 66 points each
Last year 21 points
This year on pace for 42 points
If you could get Dahlin (1st overall 2018), who has 20 points already this season and Cozens 15 points as a rookie so far this Covid season (7th overall 2019) for Petey (5th overall 2017) and Rathbone (95th 4th round 2017)

With top RHD simply to rare & costly to attain Hughes swapping over be the best thing to try. At least see how he does. If it works then many options are presented.

Faceoffs
Bo Horvat: (3-0)
Juho Lammikko: (1-2)
J.T. Miller: (3-3)
Elias Pettersson: (1-5)
Gabby giving EP every chance to improve as a centre. I’m sure Bo and Miller will take more faceoffs as the game progresses but nice to see EP get his looks early in the game.

Every chance yes but Petey is clueless on the dot. One move only hoping he’s faster. No imagination & looks like he’s not caring.

You are happy with his 1-5 performance? Fanboys 🤮 - CanuckDon
Happy? No. But if he’s going to play the centre position then he needs to learn how to win faceoffs. Only way to do that is doing it over and over again.
Even if you don’t believe in him, it’s best to improve that part of his game because it will only increase his trade value. Most teams won’t trade much for a centre who can’t play centre.

FO’s are only 1 part of being a C. It’s on him to improve his win%.
He can go to the video room & self teach like anybody else can.
He can play C but he’s far from on his game. He isn’t even dangerous.

He isn’t a centre - CanuckDon
Fine, you may be right, but you ain’t coach. At this point in time Gabby’s giving him that opportunity. I’m hopeful that EP can shake this funk. I’m not ready to accept that his rookie season was a fluke.
