yandle is apart of the hayes club. does anyone think there is a stipulation with hayes/yandle? tragedy occurs in the hayes family and the team says we will do anything to make you more comfortable and he says "sign my buddy that knew Jimmy and let him play until he says stop...for me"

yeah i mean they absolutely signed yandle because he's hayes buddy tho - i just wonder if hayes has some pull in keeping yandle in the lineup. highly doubt it but (frank) ya never know with this team...

Reminds me of the time George Bush 41 went to Australia, and gave the V
sign to protestors on the way of his motorcade, while grinning broadly.
(In Australia, that sign means FU).

Which in turn leads me to the best of Presidential gaffes: when Jimmy
Carter was mistranslated by his translator in Poland (who became very
famous after the incident). His comments about having come from the US
and looking forward to meeting the Polish people was translated as: I
have departed the US never to return, to have intimate relations with the Polish people (paraphrase).

LOL. Which way was W’s palm facing, by chance?

So many gaffs over the years.

And let’s not forget “Ich bin ein Berliner.” By throwing “ein” in there, JFK accidentally referred to himself as a pastry. The article isn’t required. Some people will argue against it, as you could technically say it that way, but “Ich bin Berliner” would be the familiar usage.

I was gonna post that, then looked it up in Wikipedia, which was full of admonitions for those who would perpetuate the urban legend.

For those unfamiliar, JFK visited Berlin in the early 1960s, and went to to the Wall, where thousands had gathered, and said..."I am a doughnut."

Happy New Year to you as well, and everyone else.

JVR is still one of the best PP net players in the league. Their issue is zone entries and puck movement.
- MJL

And if I may add the willingness to shoot the puck! JVR is useless in front of the net if no one is shooting. That is where I mentioned G is a problem right now, he has got to be the a threat to shoot bombs every time he is on the ice, especially on the PP. Then you can play off that threat, i.e. either a one-timer from the flank or he shoots a quick pass into the bumper for a one timer. Right now G on the half wall driving the PP is the wrong position for him, that should be Frost's job IMO. I would play a 1-3-1 on the PP, JVR in the slot, TK or Cam in the bumper, Frost and G on the circles and Risto up top until Ellis returns.

it's now 2022, the last time the Flyers won the Cup is as close in time to the roaring 1920's as it is to present. Just absurd. No end in sight either.

I agree that Giroux has to shoot some but he is not the problem. The issue is that there is no real threat from the point. Nor is there a consistent threat on the opposite half wall from Giroux. Therefore penalty killers can shade towards Giroux and take away his passing and shooting lanes. Your comment that Giroux doesn't belong on the half wall and it should be Frost's job is so off base that it doesn't deserve any discussion. Not to mention that you contradict the statement with your 1-3-1 setup which has Giroux on the half wall.

I don’t usually pay much attention to the Winter Classic, unless the Flyers are involved, but isn’t it usually played during daylight hours?

RR has produced on the PP in prior years. Beyond comical they haven't inserted him on the top unit for stretch to see what happens.

Yeo is a slight upgrade to AV. Which is still below average imo.

I think they have learned that playing during daylight is not a good idea. How many times have we seen glare issues on the ice with the sun going down or the game pushed back for the same reason?

I guess. Just seems you lose the sense that it’s outdoors at night.

I hear you. Ideally if the game was played at noon that would be best but it’s not good enough view wise on TV. The later day starts have the sun issue, tough to pull it off during the day and make the most of it for the league.
