Thing is, they weren’t blessed with as much talent of the hop as Vegas. I was still completely shocked they made the final year 1. Seattle just doesn’t have the squad.

Take the two points. What’s that 5 0 and 1 in last 6?
-Hextall271

I disagree. Seattle had every chance to build a good team. Francis screwed himself over by being stubborn. There were players he skipped over. Just looking at the Flyers, he could have taken Voracek which would have given them a top player for free. Its not like they are up against the cap. They have 11 Mill in cap space

All in on Bedard? How do they go about doing that?

Rename the club to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Gary will handle the rest.

I think they just took a longer term approach for more sustained success. Lots of expiring deals for trades at the deadline, has space to take on a bad contract as well. If I was him I would have not taken Voracek either. You can argue about those guys, Tarasenko, but there were major injury questions on him.

Yeah. I think their approach had to be different just due to what Vegas did. Flat cap, g m s not willing to give picks to protect. Hence the different approach. Going back they definitely could’ve iced a better team. Time will tell. But it was a safe approach.

We won last night and the players saved their energy for tonight. Good planning for the back to back.

The results are better which ultimately is all that matters but they are dramatically outplayed almost every game. Winning isn't sustainable when that is the case.

dreadful, boring game last night. I'm glad they won, but it was hard to watch. Nice to see JVR scoring, Jones played well, and that OT goal by Provy was pretty great, but other than that

I thought Sanheim-Risto were good, and it was great to see G get his 600 with the perfect pass on the PP. Classic. But yeah, hoping for a better team game with some actual possession leading to opportunities and Flyers goals tonight!

Let’s go Flyers!

They have been a descent pair recently. It’s nice to have someone who can clear the porch again.

one quote and a pretty good summary of the Flyers current situation

“If the rebuild would’ve went the way they wanted it to go, he (Giroux) wouldn’t be the best player on the team anymore.”

-Charlie O’Connor

Charlie O’Connor of The Athletic recently summarized the organization’s overreliance on Giroux because of their inability to develop top-tier NHL talent to replace him.

- wcorvette

This year Giroux has been the top guy, but Couturier was the best player on the team from 18-19 to 20-21.

Yandle will play at least until 1000 games. He wont sit at all prior and likely not after imo.
- hello it's me 2050

He can dodge injury by shying away from contact during games and gifting the other teams scoring chances, but that won't keep him from testing positive.

Still points to no one being drafted in the “rebuild” . Not like Coots was head and shoulders above G either, if it all. Selke year I’ll give you.

Patrick was supposed to be the top 6 center replacement for Giroux, and now his career's probably over. Tough sport.

I’ve got the Covid, boys!! Two weeks no work, no gym!!

I’m only mid way through the second as we speak. Win or lose, we seem to get outworked by everyone and that’s not at all a good sign regardless of whom is or isn’t in the line up. Many say we missed Couturier and Laughton. I say we look the same. We talk up a guy like Travis Konency who does offer some pros but not enough if he doesn’t consistently score. The only time he’s looked worse in terms of an impact player was the last time we were in the playoffs.

What I really don’t like about our all our defensive pairs is, the two D-men following the puck. No matter if it’s Provorov, Braun, whomever, both men are prone to following the puck carrier behind the net or both guys will follow the puck carrier to the far defensive corner together leaving our goalie alone. I thought the idea was both defenders have a post to cover on each side of the net. Or one knows the protect the goalie while the other rovers.

Well. My point is that even though maybe an opportunity was there for better players, the roster that was constructed was not as talented as the Vegas group.

Thanks. I know it effects people differently. In my case, I’ve felt like hell since Monday. It’s good to finally know. Sucks I’m not going to any New Years parties.

i agree with all that. I also hope that the studio makeup team is back at work. Taryn and Hartnell looked a little rough. Hartnell always does but Taryn seemed a little less well put together than usual. I will say that they are an unusually negative broadcasting crew. Not often that a team's own analysis group would be so negative.
