Doesn’t matter either way, but most here wanted change at the management level and they got their wish. All is good, yet some of you guys are still hung up on this whiner kick. It’s a bit tiresome. Got any new material? - bloatedmosquito
Oh yes the material is thick. Time and place...

It is frustrating to see players turn away from easy hits. No need to run the guy but some contact should be made. and as I think we should trade Bo as he turns away from making a hit, I start thinking about what we are lacking, what we need, I am reminded by the commentator on the number of face offs Horvat takes, leading the league.
Rutherford talks about where he wants to see the team improve and where change is needed, makes me wonder how much freedom the new gm will have? If you are the gm is it either the owner telling you what you can and can't do or it's the team pres?
I'm expecting a big shuffle of personnel at some point. We have either Miller, who will need a new contract soon, or EP as our 1st line center, neither seem to be a true center, and some decision has to be made with Boeser and his next qualifying offer $$$.
Enjoying the run with Boudreau and a more engaged style of play. - hillbillydeluxe
Good to see you back HBD.
Agree not sure how much freedom the new GM will have under Rutherford but time will tell. When Rutherford gets his sights set on a player new GM or not snap decisions/trades could be made for better or for worse. Seen that movie in PIT a bunch of times.
Miller is a big question mark. Guy is easily our best player right now and do we turn the corner with/without him after his deal is up? Probably going to need to keep him here to take that next step but the contract could be questionable and even if he wants to stay lol
Horvat is an exceptional 2LC but that's where he will top out. I lobbied for him to be Captain for awhile but that was misconstrued. Expected him to play tougher Hockey but he was mentored to be Captain by the Sedins so there is that 'softness' to his play...but having said that he is still a huge part of the core moving forward. Players play alot not to be hurt now and I think that is affecting Petey's game big time. Playing complacent. In his first few seasons sure he was a bit reckless but man did he get results. Not ready to toss the towel in on him just yet.
Things are super-rosy under Boudreau right now but that will change along with the narrative champs here when the first big losing streak under Boudreau happens...and it will happen. Just a question of injuries and when IMO.
Boeser? See where it goes. Boudreau has him playing hard Hockey and shooting the puck now. Once Petey starts with that quick release again and getting a few in the net his confidence will return just like it did with Hughes and Boeser. |

Like Petey displays... - carsonagenic
Give Petey a chance to bust back out of it like Hughes and Boeser. If this club stays close to the WC spot in the next few weeks look for Rutherford to add not trade away assets like Pettersson...hopefully.lol |

Toronto Maple Leafs centre Auston Matthews, Vegas Golden Knights winger Max Pacioretty and Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko have been named the NHL's "Three Stars" for December.
Way to go Demko. Now that’s a player you build around. |

As a forward Bo has the third most hits on the team (7th overall), only Miller and Dickinson have more. IMO, the Canucks have not been strong on the forecheck for years so it’s kept the forward hit totals down. With a more aggressive style in play I think you’ll see those numbers rise steadily. - bloatedmosquito
I wouldn't have guessed that about the hits and Bo.
From the get go this season, there wasn't a forecheck. Usually out of training camp its aggressive for a while but can't be or isn't sustained and eases off. I guess that was by design. nuts.
certainly happy to see more pressure from the pk unit instead of collapsing to the net and watching the puck go round and round.

I'm happy not to be making any of the decisions on who stays or not.
Whatever the inflated qualifying offer is for Boeser, I can't see him earning it and I like him and have one of those tshirts with his # on the back, lol, and not sure trade value before his present contract expires with that qualifying offer?
Agree on Boudreau, everything is rosy now, have to wait and see how the team is after losses and how they bounce back. At least he is a good interview.
I try to be positive but expect sht to go sideways.
Wish we had games this week, it could get ugly in here.

Apparently you haven't read or heard any of Rutherford's interviews where he addresses your hysteria. He has said each club he managed were at different stages and therefore he approached each one with different methods or tactics. He said he won't be trading high draft picks to fix things here. There is quite a bit more, you should read it.
Also, maybe Rutherford is looking for a GM that shares his plan for fixing things both long term and short term. Why pick a GM who doesn't believe in your direction? |

I’m sick of hearing about covid as I am about narratives. - bloatedmosquito
I'd like to change the page on covid, but we aren't there yet.
the narratives on here are funny to stupid.
Happy New Year!
My wife's sister and husband are staying with us for 6 weeks. Mother in law already lives here, downstairs with one of her brothers. I bought 2 cases of wine when they arrived 3 weeks ago, gone through 16 bottles over 3 weeks. instead of biting my tongue, I take a drink. and excuse myself to watch hockey.
I'm upset games are canceled. |

Holy crap dude, I’m sorry to hear that.
Traditionally, my wife and I host Christmas for our entire family. We did all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, entertaining, and driving. We would even pay for the plane tickets and accommodations. They would show up and just sit there while we worked our asses off. The kicker… my mother and my wife’s mother don’t get along so there’s always loads of tension.
Three Christmas’ ago I said enough is enough and told them all we were burnt out and that it was their turn to host. Needless to say I wasn’t very popular. But then covid hit and we’ve had glorious Christmas’ since with just me, the wife, and two kids.
It was a Christmas miracle. |
