I agree the turnover was not caused by the Kings speed, and I didn't post anything to say otherwise. What I posted was once the turnover occurred the Kings, Arvidsson, used his speed to generate the 2 on 1 and then made a nice pass for any easy finish. Yes Connauton made a stupid dump, Yandle a stupid pinch and then Connauton got back into the play but played it terribly by not cutting off the pass across. Still, I have ZERO confidence that if the Flyers had received that turnover they would have finished it as well as LA did. - jd250
Again, the Kings did not generate the two on one with speed. It was generated by exactly what I said. Majority of NHL players would've potted that. Wide open net and a simple shot. |

Free agents care about fit, opportunity, term and money. Whatever the Flyers did with Yandle wouldn't mean a dam thing towards future free agency. - MJL
Yea, I guess knowing the person across the table won’t really do what he says won’t affect a player’s decision. No one ever has a problem with someone who says one thing and does another. |

I agree, Giroux is having a good year, though I still want him to shoot the puck a lot more. The problem is not Giroux, its that Giroux is your best forward. As good as Giroux has been, he is not a top player in the league, that is the issue for the Flyers. That is why they need to sell aggressively, draft as high as possible over the next two years and hope they can augment their team with true top players. - jd250
It's amazing how quickly you have flip flopped from the GM making all the right moves last off season and changing the culture. Remember when you were sick of tired of waiting and draft picks were expendable because they take 3 years to reach the NHL? Now they need to sell and draft high. |

You're assuming that he was promised anything. Players sign an SPC. What is contained within that contract is the only thing a team is obligated to do. NHL players know that your spot in the lineup is never a guarantee and that you have to continue to earn your spot. If your play does not warrant staying in the lineup, they you might not play. It's that simple.

No one could have foreseen what has happened to this kid. If you want to say they blew it (and be a Monday am QB, or whatever the NHL equivalent of a QB is), then admit that 3/4 of the rest of the league likely makes the same “mistake.” - iamscore2day
I don’t have to say they blew it…it’s obvious. Any one can say “no one could have seen this”. In the end it’s a mistake. A mistake that has helped lead to where they are today. You might be right, 3/4 ofte league may have whiffed on the pick as well…unfortunately that honour went to Hextall.
As far as the am QB analogy? When are we supposed to debate a pick ? The day after ? The year after? Or a few years down the road when the results are evident? |

When will CC and the GM get together to discuss the course of action going forward as the deadline approaches. |

I can answer that for you now, it will be something along the lines of “we believe in this group”. No selling. |

You keep acting like we took Ricci over Jagr again, or Morin over Zadorov, Wennberg or Pulock, which we also did. Patrick was a consensus top pick who has not worked out yet. It is not as if they did not hit on other picks. You are just being boring by stating the obvious.

The GM doesn't have the balls to ask him to waive his NMC.
It will go something like this imo: CC we want you here. We want you to retire a Flyer. You tell us what you want and we will accommodate that golden parachute for you asap..

The answer is as simple as if the Flyers are mathematically eliminated by the deadline. Due to the false parity in the league because of the farcical loser point system, the chances the Flyers are mathematically eliminated is very slim.
Chuck was brought here to do a job, and that is to maximize resources to go for it every year. We know what is going to happen. |

It's a missed pick no doubt but I refuse to place language like they blew it on it. They made a good pick based on the information at the time. It didn't work out. It's simply bad luck in my opinion. I keep reading about injury information. There was no information about long term injury issues at the time. There was also despite the narratives, not a consensus among the scouts on who to take.

You have no way of knowing what medical info the flyers had.

Can people stop complaining that the Flyers took Ricci over Jagr. Jagr was telling teams he wasn't coming over right away because he all he wanted to do was play with Mario. |

I’m not acting like anything. They missed on their biggest opportunity in the last decade to draft an elite talent. Yes it is obvious…and laughable to argue against…the analogy of Ricci over Jagr is the smartest comparison you’ve made. |

The way I remember the draft the year we selected Patrick. EVERY person in the know said it was only a two person draft. Word was there was a considerable drop off after the first two. No one and I mean no one, brought up Makars name. If they say so now, they’re lying. |

Also when they made the pick, there was a consensus from pretty much everyone that the Flyers just drafted a #1 NHL center. |

Yes. It’s the nature of the beast. Hockey is a late development sport and this stuff happens from time to time. Just unfortunate that it happened r us when we needed our luck to come through with a solid nhl player. |
