Well said 👍🏻 Well if my sources are to be believed Petey isn’t good in the room. The crack part I can’t confirm - CanuckDon

All players and people are different. But I really don't see the correlation between the Twins and Petey.
Twins started slow under huge pressure after the blockbuster trade, were 18, were Swedish Twins and should have started in the minors. Worked there way up to be serviceable players, then front line players, then superstars. All the while gaining respect from the fans and the league as a whole. Became beyond model citizens and human beings.
Petey came over after playing in Sweden post being drafted. Had expectations yes, but nothing like the Sedins. Played great his rookie year and took the league by storm and won the Calder. Became a superstar (too fast in my opinion) and seems cocky to me. Follows that season up with good numbers, and has been injury plagued since. As far as the human side of things, might be the greatest guy in the world, but unlike the Sedins, we done really know. - carsonagenic
You are stating the obvious. The path players travel are different. Point remains the same though, reactionary impatient fans typically get it wrong. The Sedins eventually earned the respect they deserved but they were rode really hard by the types I speak of along the way. They got it wrong. The same types already threw Hughes under the bus with their whole 1 year of patience and they are now eating crow as he is back on track.

This is true but it’s Elias bizarre downward trajectory…he is (frank)ing terrible. I don’t really see the comparison other than they are all Swedes? - CanuckDon
You could compare this situation to most young players that had a ton of potential that struggled along the way. Of course their paths and stories are different with the exceptions of two identical twins named Sedins.
Hughes has a different story as well... same bullpoop surrounded him only a couple of months ago.

Are you not wearing a hockey mask at all times? If you aren't then I'm as confused as when I asked Marwood if he looked just like his profile pic. - carsonagenic
lol no but I did put a visor on to play old man hockey now. Too many plugs out there with no stick control . |

Yep same with Boeser as well. No reason to think Pettersson won't bounce back with some patience. |

Could be a Travis Green situation where the players are playing to get Tippett fired. - LordHumungous

I like how there is an excuse for everything Oilers, and I mean major (frank)ing knob gobbling excuses, but Calgary who is 5 times better is a tire fire. - Makita

A few names in there. Huberdeau broke out at 25, Sean Couturier as well.
I would say the Canucks best option would be to just play with him and get the players signed at reasonable contracts and draft.
Draft a defender with the first round pick this year. Try and acquire a 2nd round pick and develop the players that are in the system. Pick up a few college free agents. - manvanfan
Not my style but what ever works to get him going. |
