Fair enough, he still doesn't sound like a valley girl doing speedballs.

Not exactly true. Horvat’s a classy guy and he did the right thing…

Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat said the changes the team made to the leadership group Sunday were difficult to see, but were also necessary to help get them back on track.

“It’s never easy to see people like that go,” Horvat said Monday while thanking departed GM Jim Benning and head coach Travis Green for their roles in his career. “I think our team needed a spark … but at the same time, we have to go out there and prove it now.”

I totally missed that. Thanks.

I know people dump on Horvat but he is a good guy and I hope he’s our captain for a long time. Not the most skilled guy but works so hard and is committed to the team. I just like his character.

He’s a good kid, I just wish he’s show a little more emotion sometimes.

I agree in regards to on ice behaviour, but off ice you know teams train these guys to be emotionless in front of the media. Anyone that shows emotion gets criticized. Miller’s a perfect example.

Emotion channeled in the right way is what I mean. Miller just throws out “f-bombs” when he’s upset, the kind of emotion I’m speaking to, regarding Horvat, is sticking up for his teammates, scrum stuff. Stop turning away from on-ice adversity. Love what Pearson did the other day, loved it.

I can’t remember if Linden was a protective captain. Anyone remember? I guess at that time you had guys who specifically filled that role. Maybe that’s something this team needs? I’d hate to see Horvat’s faceoff skills wasted while he sits in the box because of a lame roughing penalty.

I don’t remember either, he (Linden) did fight on occasion but those were different times, teams had several tough guys to do that stuff.

Landeskog fight and sticks up for his team and he’s a good player, but he doesn’t have to do it all the time. Bo wouldn’t be in the box that much as it’s not really required all the time, just on occasion.

Took a team friendly contract. Not selfish at all. He's been one of the leagues best bargains in my opinion.

I don't remember him as such. Team had a lot of muscle back in the early 90's. He didnt need to be.

Fans actually let him get away with a lot of whining back then. It got even worse as he got older. There was drama involved in a lot of stuff. Being traded, NHLPA, Canucks front office. Seems he can't leave without a bunch of drama unfolding.

I'd say yes, however bear in mind He had 4 or 5 guys behind him who would willingly step up.

They could leave the red hair gene and just shut off the homicidal gene that accompanies it.

Honestly, I'd prefer Petey or Hughes to step up, be like Bure and pull a Shane Churla on someone that's chopping at them. Might make them less likely to be run and laid out and hurt. Stars these days just expect others to fight their battles for them and it's sad.

It's no mother-of-all-elbows but Pouty can dish it out when he wants too. saw it during the Anaheim game. Found the clip...

Edit: that's not the clip I searching for. I think that's from last season. Still a decent example of what the kid can do.

Pouty takes a slash to the wrist and gets a bit of payback.

The kid's got it in him. Hoping Gabby can get him back where he needs to be.
