The Flyers need all of the top prospects they can get. They shouldn't be giving up prospects in a trade of Giroux in my opinion. Foerster is a 1st round prospect with a big shot and a goal scoring winger. The position the Flyers are in dictates my opinion.

I won't address the rest of your childish response.

Are they also not getting a top prospect with NHL experience who is 20 years old back in said deal? Instead of kicking the can down the road waiting x amount of years for the Forest?

If they do turn out to be quality NHL players then they can move them or others later or buyout others but selling low on a 20 yr old who has yrs of cost control would make no sense. In actuality developing these guys slowly works great for Rangers limits their next contracts. Trouba will eventually be moved in couple yrs as they have many top D prospects. Reason they traded Buchnevich was to create Cap flexibility

Trading Buchnevich was a mistake by them.

Do you know what prospects are? They are projected NHL players.

Yeah, lets move on.

That's pathetic on your part.

Well, at least two people here think Giroux+Foerster is overpaying for Kakko. So, there is some disagreement on the selling low part.

But honestly, I was just spitballing to stir up some content. Teams have traded high end draft picks when they believe they don't fit into the team's short term plans, right? Remember the Seguin trade when Boston believed they were on the cusp of a long range of cup relevance?

The Seguin trade was made in part due to a poor playoff and a perceived off ice attitude issue. They made a mistake there.

Dear god. We were already going to get creamed. Hard to place any stock in the results when all the teams are missing key components.

I dont. It's more Foerster for Kakko. G can always be resigned in the off season. That said, I dont do the deal because I believe you can get more for G to add to a prospect like Foerster.

*Doesnt believe Fletch is capable of winning said deal for one iota*

And how did you come to the conclusion that Foerster, a guy who has never played in NHL, is too much to give up without a projection of what he will be?

I suppose now you will endlessly argue 2+2=5. Because that is exactly the way to prove the absurd.

- PT21

it's true we don't know what Foerster will be but we also don't know what Kakko is either, except in his 3rd year he is not producing like other top draft picks are. How do you know Kakko will be even better than Patrick at this point? I am not trading assets for a maybe, the Flyers have too much of this already IMO.

That and Seguin was sleeping with another Bruins players wife, which kind of kills the whole team thing

What’s wrong with yellow fruit snacks? I was hoping for a peanut butter sandwich reference but yellow fruit snacks?

Because Kakko projections far exceed Foerster projections. Remember Kakko is playing from the get go on a star studded team. Foerster is nowhere near cracking a pretty poor team. Don't hold Kakko's youthful incompetence against him just because he is good enough to get a toe in the door!

And no, no, no. Flyers have traded young talent for help-me-now veterans. They never make the sort of educated, long range gamble a trade like this would involve.

I would not call it a truce. More like, educated engagement and educated disengagement.

It still exists, carefully nurtured by yours truly, which is why I ceased responding.

Both were enormously underachieving relative to expectations. It was trade my floundering project for yours.

Thass different.

If you look back at all the transactions he’s made, have any resulted in young prospects, high draft picks or superstars?

JVR was a much better player at the time than Pylon Schenn! That was a terrible trade at the time.
