Agreed - no such thing as bad weather with the right gear. That said, winter/cold is my least preferred season.

If it is 90F outside, nothing you can do about it. No garb or absence thereof will help.

But winter: you can buy lightweight stuff that keeps you very toasty and cover up most of your body and you will be pretty comfy.

winter sucks it messes up your joints whereas in the summer the warmth helps the blood flow

I wish I could hibernate like a bear during winter.
- MJL

I wish I can migrate between the N & S hemispheres (like some birds). For the length of daily sunlight.

Leave it to the PAB to recall HB user details!

Thanks, tho

You are welcome. Did you enjoy the spring break in Florida in 1985 when you were about 10?

It's pretty easy to keep yourself warm outside in winter if you want to. Impossible to keep yourself cool in summer.

Just saying'...

I am beginning to think that Nashville was at least aware of Ellis' issues. Thus perhaps answering the question that has been asked over and over. Why did they trade him for such a minuscule return?

edit: Leight to the discussion

interesting to call it miniscule. some on here named myers an elite shutdown defender.

True.

Personally I love the cold. I love to ski and have warm clothes, what is not to love? Plus its great to sleep in. I can always add another blanket.

- MBFlyerfan

I loved the winter when I was young. I also love to ski and I even worked as a ski tour guide for 3 years. Traveled all over the NE and skied for free. The social life was great. That's how I met my wife. Sadly, I physically can't ski anymore so now I despise the winter.

Well, there is at least one more innocuous explanation. Ellis was a 31 year D, good but not elite, with injury issues. Signed for a very long time (6 more years!). At a pretty significant cap hit.

In the post-Covid age, not many teams willing to take that on.

All correct.

I felt hot even when I was a kid and skinny. Admittedly that was a long time ago.

I have lost 45 lbs during Covid. I am down to 230 lbs now.

Honestly, when was the last time we were lucky?

Last year, if we didn't have a truncated season, our trajectory after the first month carries us squarely into the realm of a top 7 pick. I am sure they don't trade that for Risto.

Year before, we draw the two clubs we had trouble against in regular season: Habs and Isles.I could go on.

As for individual players, where do I start. Desjardin and his kid? Foppa and his foot? Primeau and his conky? Pronger and his eye? Morin? Patrick? Allison?

All I can think of is drafting Giroux at that position and our draw in the 2010 playoffs.

God is a Russian in a Red Army uniform.

In the future, someone will event personal space air conditioners that will create a bubble of comfortable air that will surround you outside.

I was/am always looking at cap hits.

Kinda sucks in a way, I miss the days when you could trade for sign whoever you wanted regardless of cost.

I take back the "compliment" of you being the HB user details master. But then again, you also thought I was from England... or something.

No seriously.

I have a high threshold for cold. And hot weather makes me bloody irritable.

I never wear a sweater. If it is in the twenties (like today), I wear a shirt/tshirt and a winter jacket, but I don't button up. If it in the teens, I button up. Never gloves or scarf. After my hair started falling, a reluctant hat, usually stuffed into sidepocket after 30 mins of walking.

Often, I am the sole person sitting outside a restaurant in their outdoor sitting area.

Many years, my wife and I would go to Montreal over winter break. That's serious cold. Some less than zero F. Then I would need to wear specialized winter garb..

For me it’s just another normal day…lol. You just have to find winter activities besides playing hockey when you get older…I sled up at the cottage just north of Ottawa, that gets me outdoors. I shovelled off the lake for the kids last week for some outdoor skating. You just have to dress for the cold…I don’t find it quite the novelty you do…I’d rather the sun in Florida any day.

Some good prospect news, Jay O'Brien returned from injury, that kept him out almost the entire month of Dec, on new year's eve and collected 2 assists in a 5-1 BU victory. There is still plenty left to the season but JOB needs to stay healthy to hopefully get on a roll and start to build momentum for his career. He has only played a handful of games this season so far because of injury.

rather take the 2nd rd compensatory pick then sign him at this point.

In 2020, you mentioned that you were under 50. A few months ago, you fondly reminisced about spring break in 1985 in Florida.

I think you are a Russian agent from Montreal. Your code name is Putin's Poutine.

Exactly. Anyone still wonder why Nashville was willing to trade a legitimate top pairing RH defenseman for Myers and Patrick?

Because they're not a cap team, and couldn't afford Ellis and Ekholm both making $6.25m.

90°, a cold drink, a good book, and a comfy beech chair in the shade is my idea of a good time. If it's hot you sweat. If it's cold you freeze.

I have no doubt that the Flyers medical team looked at his recent medical reports on injuries before agreeing to the trade. There is no doubt in my mind that Nashville was concerned about his ability to stay healthy over the life of the remaining contract. There is also no doubt in my mind that the same injury and reliability concerns sacred off much of the league. Normally a really good RH top pairing defenseman would fetch more than they got in the deal. That's speculation on my part but I'm confident in those beliefs.
- MJL

His most recent injuries were a shattered knuckle and a concussion from being elbowed in the head by Corey Perry. Anyone who think this lower body issue should have been predicted in advance, are being childish and absurd.
