So you are saying that every team the Flyers play are defensively perfect and that is why we never see a Flyers player make a play like this? When is the last time we saw a Flyers player score a goal like this? Its very rare if at all, but if you can think of some over the past few years would love to hear about it.

Have the Flyers scored any breakaway goals this year? Do you think other teams are regularly scoring goals like that so that indicates that the Flyers don't have good players?

You're trying to make a really bad play by a defenseman on a one on one play into an indictment on the Flyers talent level.

- MJL

What is the Flyers talent level in your opinion?

Back to back and belly to belly 3 goal losses.

Imagine drafting Patrick over this guy?

What I am trying to do is point out a very simple example to a very real problem with the Flyers. Anaheim is having a good season because they have young players that have the speed and skill that is needed to play in today's NHL, players like Drysdale, Zegras, Milano and Terry. The Flyers have Farabee, and maybe next year York. Who knows about Frost, O'Brien, Foerster and Tuomaala, maybe they come in next year, or maybe they don't.

That's all he did when at UMass ... I wish I was in Hextall's ear piece that day! Cale Makar is the modern day Bobby Orr, he is that good! Then again, with the Flyers' luck, Makar would be hurt with an upper body injury for weeks on end if the Flyers had drafted him.

It’s fair and reasonable to say that the Flyers are lacking high end younger talent but to frame it as a guy on the Flyers can’t score a goal like Terry did was absurd. That goal was 100% preventable if Sanheim doesn’t play it like a pewee. Also, zebras and Terry are the only ones that fit that mold. Silano has one good season in 6 years.

Yes York looks like he belonged last night, however he needs to add another 10 lbs. of beef before I think he will be ready to play a full NHL season.
- jd250

Fell asleep for most of this one, but glad to hear York played well and a lot. I wonder if they give him a longer look here. Can’t hurt if he played 20 mins and well.

Zero chance on all 3. Maybe at best end of season for a look.

Saw the first period and he was up and down the ice, making himself available. Getting shots through, looked like he belonged. Lord knows we could use him. Staple Yandle to the press box

He will be sent back to the phantoms no doubt in my mind. Take him any day over the 3 stooges.

I’ll bet my paycheck on the day of the 2017 draft, you wouldn’t have told Hextall to change a thing.

Not to mention that Terry was drafted in 2015. The kid never had anymore than 7 goals in a season or 20 points prior to this year. Terry is just now fitting that mold.

Konecny not a superstar and very ineffective. This franchise is doomed to be in nomansland for the forseable future

This is one of the reasons not to dismiss the G + Foerester for Kakko trade talk from yesterdays blog. If you think Kakko has the high ceiling, and potential star power, you make the trade. If your projection on foerester is a middle 6 wing. You make the trade all day. We have enough middle 6 potential. and zero game changers in the system.

I thought it was a good game overall from two short-handed teams. The difference to me last night was 1. John Gibson had a really strong game and 2. what we see most of the time, when Anaheim had their chances they buried them and when the Flyers had their chances they didn't. Case in point, JVR had two incredible looks in the 2nd and could bury either chance, which would have changed the game completely. BTW, who on the Flyers can score a goal like Terry's 2nd goal of the game in the 1st period? That goal was a perfect example of what the Flyers have lacked for several years now, a player that can blow by every other player and score a highly skilled goal with speed.
- jd250

He's a fast kid but I didn't see it as him blowing by anyone - I saw Sanheim make a mistake at the blueline and then the other Flyer (I forget who) played him soft.

ok, if you want to get technical sure, but the question remains, who on the Flyers can make the play Terry made on that 2nd goal? I say, no one!
- jd250

Same circumstances? Atkinson, Farabee for starters

I would trade both the Travis’. I keep reading that the Flyers are drafting wrong and the last team we lost to is doing it right. Phil Myers and Travis Sanheim are two example of two tall, lanky, soft defensemen who were supposed to be the exactly the type of player this new nhl needs….right?

I know hindsight is 20/20 but look at the 2015 draft; no game breakers picked by the Flyers. Terry was picked by Anaheim in the 5th round that year! The Flyers used to be great at getting gems, occasionally, rounds 3 and later. Have to do better than that!

Yep - the experts here on HB would've given him a cute nickname and run him out of Philly by 2019

Rangers dont need Flyers to retain they have like 9M in Cap room....also if they trade Kravtsov doubt they add a 1st..maybe a 2nd they have two of them
