Any thoughts on Scott Gordon when he coached the Phantoms? Was he let go, or moved on because of differences in the way management wanted him to coach up the draft picks. I agree with your post. You draft guys like Frost etc, turn them loose. We don’t need 12 200ft players on the same team. - Angus4444
Everyone would like to see more skill for sure. However, you have to be responsible defensively to play center in the NHL. I do not think they were wrong initially on making Frost become a responsible two way player. His injuries threw a wrench into the timeline no doubt. He has a spot now. He needs to show more of that skill everyone raves about.

No it wasn't. It was a routine one on one play. Sanheim lunging for the puck is what created the opening for Terry to shift and skate by Sanheim. When you reach and lunge like that, you're off balance. You're making this into some highlight reel play to get to the net. It wasn't. The deke was nice but plenty of Flyers have scored on dekes. The reason why the Flyers lose is not speed primarily. - MJL
So you think the Flyers have all the skill and speed they need to win consistently in this league right now? If so, then what is it, coaching or it is the system they continue to play? If not these then what? |

The Rangers have to solve the Kratsov dilemma but in my opinion, if they're smart. The Rangers shouldn't be giving up any 1st rounders this season for rentals. They're on the cusp of having a really strong team that can have an open window for a while. Let the young players continue to develop and grow. Don't hastily give up someone like Kakko or 1st round picks. Let it grow. - MJL
Unlike you, teams when they see an opportunity, they like to take advantage of such opportunity. They don't want to kick the can down the road. They have a legit chance to win a cup this year as of today. That may change come the deadline.
Them giving up a 1st will not set them back. |

I think the Flyers are missing a lot of things team wise. Your example was not what you made it out to be. That simple. The rest is a different conversation.

Yep think G and a 3rd for Krvtsov and 1st is killer deal for Flyers. Do it in a heartbeat - hfc355
Why would the Rangers ever trade a player to the Flyers? If the Rangers do decide to trade Krvtsov, it will be out west. Besides do we really want a problematic player that refuses to report to an AHL team for his own good? |
|
|
|
Yes. It’s at the point where he’s no worse than what you have out there and he has an upside. I’m all for it. I’m grasping for positives this year and that might be one. - Hextall271
You live with his mistakes to help prepare him for the future. As you said and I have said, it is about the upside he can provide.

One thing about Gordon was he was playing to win games. So was he really developing players? Was he giving young guys a chance? I don't know the full extent to answer that. |

I think there are plenty of players in the NHL that could score that goal. Even the Flyers have a few of them. He was not challenged at all by the defense. Sanheim and RR (to a lesser extent) did nothing to stop him or even make him adjust at all. One on one with the goalie is going to result in a goal pretty regularly.

If the Rangers decide to trade him, I'm sure they will get as good of a deal from a team out west as they could trading with the Flyers. |

Statistics will tell you goalies stop one on ones about 70% of the time. That is the other side of that play that was impressive, that Terry was able to make a good move on Hart at full speed, didn't need to slow down at all. I am sure there are quite a few players in the league now that can make that play, just not on the Flyers which was my only point. Farabee is one that can and has, no doubt. |

We'll see if a trade happens, look, my only point is I don't see the Flyers and Rangers ever making a deal like this given their history and rivalry. |

I don't have to ... look, I gave you my opinion which is the Flyers lack the speed and skill necessary to win in today's NHL. If you and others want to live on planet delusia and pretend the Flyers have all they need then that's your prerogative. I will stick to what I see game in and game out, season in and season out. The results are what matter more than anything else, and the results favor my opinion much more than yours. |

CC controls his own fate. NY is a train ride away. They are a perfect match. The rivalry thing is no more. Those days are long gone.
As you said we shall see. I do not think CC waives.

JVR had 2 or 3 great chances. He did not score, but if you watched the game he was definitely noticeable.
I would agree on the Frost front. He’s gotta show us a little more here. Golden opp for him. |

true, however I think the circumstances are very different, a damaged Lindros and desperate Flyers team versus and top 10 pick that is only 22 years old. |
