I guess I haven't been paying attention and living under a rock but the game is not on TV? The NHL must have rocks in their heads. Flyers-Pens not on TV in Philly? Beyond stupid.
- MJL

It's an ESPN+ exclusive!!!!

NHL/ESPN are really bad at televising this hockey thing

ESPN+ baby. Fork over the good ole' hard earned cash. I think ESPN+ is 4.99 a month and is where most/all of the games are on. Cause the only games I see are at 10 on TNT.

Isn't that a really crappy thing for in-market folks to have to do? What sense does it make to take it off their local channel?

none

Are you saying that in Philly you can’t watch the game unless you have ESPN+?
- RustyPipes

I'm out of market but I think that is what it means. Very curious to find out if I'll be able to see it on NHLCI

I would think the odds of G getting traded went up now that Covid hit. I love G but they need to trade him. When you look back at his time here you can only be angry about how management wasted his years here. Even this year, he again is their top player, you can even make a case he would be having a better season on a team with real structure...

So who needs him? Who would want him for a run? AVs, Vegas, Jets, Stars, basically anyone who thinks they are 1 move away and want that rental. I am sure there are creative ways to make it work.

It's frustrating for sure. I think they have at least a couple where they are exclusively on ESPN+. At least for tonight it was going to be hard for me to catch it so I won't miss out.

I'm sure I can come here and get an idea of how well or poorly they are looking.

I have seen, in the past 10 years or so, a lot of bars around town not have hockey on regularly anymore, even when the Flyers are on.

I am sure the muckety-mucks in a place like ESPN have done their research and believe that a substantial enough # of hockey fans will shell out to watch and the casual fan is not watching anyway.

Not saying that, particularly. There are sites that have the ESPN+ streams for free (NHL.TV before that). Some have been discussed here in the past.

Dont see G going to any of those teams. If he agrees to waive his NTC I would bet it would only be a team close to home like Caps..Pens...Rangers

Where the Flyers are now, they're better off with Farabee and Frost than with Schenn.
- MJL

No brainer good trade. Similar to the Carter Richards trades.

This is a conspiracy by ESPN to make hockey extinct once and for all. You put Flyers/Pens on ESPN+?? When I saw that advertised last week I threw up in my mouth. The NBC hockey package was 1,000 times better than this crap! I HATE BUTTMAN AND ESPN!!! Thanks!

How do you distinguish between success and failure than, if it takes as many years as it takes?

Do you remember the kind of moves Tampa made right when it started to become apparent that the core that they won their first cup with was fading? During just 1 poor season, they ended up trading away Richards, who was then about a ppg player. It was a bad trade, but that is besides the point.

Have we done anything similarly ballsy? Ever?

Did I ever get my answer on how many years we were supposed to give Hexy?

if he mentally is ok with the idea of going to a contender I think he would expand who he would consider being traded too.

That’s (frank)ing ridiculous.

Another interesting nhl fact. Ducks wings ppd. Ducks have 5 guys in Covid protocol. We have 6. They won’t cancel our game ffs. What is this? Ghost of Clarence Campbell hate for the flyers? Once this game is 8 0 after the first I’m gonna throw stuff. That is if I’m even able to watch it on centre ice. What a farce this league is.

It's Buttman and his love for the Pens. Lobbing a big fat arse softball up in the air for them to hit out of the park tonight. But hey, at least I'm not able to watch it cause of this stupid arse new TV deal that Buttman signed off on with ESPN/TNT.

Oh, I'm sure you're right. Someone crunched the numbers with a bunch of assumptions and someone else signed off on it.

As long as xfinity carries games via NHLCI I will not give ESPN additional* one dollar of my money.

*they're already getting a piece of my monthly xfinity subscription dollars

Yeah. Exactly what I’m thinking. Gonna allow Cindy to put on a show for the national espn audience which will exclude Philly haha

I get bored by that argument. Hexy plan was stupid. This is stupider.

Don't listen to that guy. I know the establishments here in WC always have the Flyers on their main TV's when they are on and usually ahead of the Sixers. That dude probably hangs out at light in the loafer bars anyway.

good news

all 6 Flyers in Covid Protocol are asymptomatic

- wcorvette

They only have to self hibernate for 5 days and on that fifth day, if the sun shines bright, and the wind blows strong, they can emerge from their covcoon and scream I am not infected whilst wearing three facui approved masks
