Measles vaccine/measles shots... all the same thing.

https://www.washingtonpos...9-9f12bd39487a_story.html

Usually, children get the first dose of the measles vaccine when they are 12 to 15 months old, followed by a second dose when they are 4 to 6 years old. But just 70 percent of children due for their second shot actually got it last year, according to the CDC and WHO, describing this as “well below the 95 percent coverage needed to protect communities from the spread of the measles virus.”

This really could be ugly tonight. I have no illusions of a win tonight, but what I would love to see is a strong effort for three periods.
- MBFlyerfan

Exactly. The Pens without key guys for chunks of the season. Jeff Carter was their 1C. It’s not even close comparing talent between the Flyers roster & who the Pens have had in their line up this season. It’s the Flyers by a landslide. Yet the Pens play with hart & effort & you never see that from the Flyers. Multiple coaches, multiple GM’s, multiple player mix. It’s been poor leadership from the C.

Homer is in semi retirement and has been for years. He reiterated as much when he went into the flyers hall a few months back.

Have you watched their drafts? The old regime are not calling the shots and have not for years. Even during hextall he called the shots just like Fletcher does now.

Their ills have nothing to do w an old line of thinking or archaic hockey strategy. They draft regardless of size, put an emphasis on speed and do actually use and value analytics just like everyone else. It has to do with the previous and current gm simply not being good enough. If you want to blame Scott for that, that’s more than fair, but they are not drafting big bulky forchecking wingers, big plodding d and two way centerman types anymore. They have drafted best available and if anything their picks are on the small side these days. This has nothing to do with the old regime. The newer or new regimes just simply were and are not good enough. Clarke and Homer are gone.

This mess was created by Hextall, Fletcher and the guy who hired them.

No way Saint Ronnie gets a pass as he wasn't allowed to finish his 10 year rebuild.

Just to remind you of the Homer years in terms of drafting.

2008: Flyers had 5 picks, 1st, 3rd, 3rd, 6th, 7th.
2009: Flyers had 6 picks, 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 6th, 7th
2010: Flyers had 6 picks, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 7th
2011: Flyers had 6 picks, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 6th, 7th

This is what I would consider being in win now mode in terms of drafting and developing. We are just not even close to this right now.

- jd250

That happens over a period of time. It is cumulative.

Fletcher hasn't been here 3 years yet he has traded one first round pick. Three second round picks and one third round pick. As well as Patrick and Myers.

MMR vaccine, MMR shot...

https://www.cdc.gov/measles/vaccination.html

MMR vaccine is safe and effective
Two doses of MMR vaccine are about 97% effective at preventing measles; one dose is about 93% effective.

There is no link between vaccines and autism
Scientists in the United States and other countries have carefully studied the MMR shot. No studies have found a link between autism and the MMR shot. Learn more

Didn’t some of those picks go for pronger. Can’t argue w that move.
- Joe Nardone

Yes they did and I would certainly not argue that move, but clearly getting a player like Pronger at 35 years old is about winning now, that is my point. There is a huge difference between what Homer was doing then in win now mode and what Fletcher is doing now.

People aren't listening to what is posted on a hockey web site to form their beliefs on Covid. Nor are they going to listen to you. That's what you don't get.
- MJL

I don't expect anyone to listen to me. Rather, I do what I can to try and not have anyone reading this stuff be even partly swayed by guys like you.

I am a full time research fellow in an ivy league university who was working on epidemiological Covid data till the grant expired November 2020. But that is not relevant at all. What I say here is always mainstream science. It is not my opinion. It is the opinion of civilization.

I understand many of you prefer the intoxicating fumes of life in your fantasy minds. I sincerely support the right to your choice. I don't spend one second of my life bemoaning it. My attempts, even with a low % of success, are entirely devoted to reminding others that there is another world out there.

Please do let me know if I can clear anything else for you. Now, just a reminder: you were banned last time not for politics or profanity, but for endlessly taunting me. This time, the ban will be longer.

Shall we move on?

You're disconnected here. Remember when Ed Snider mandated to Paul Holmgren to fix the goaltending issue? Snider did not tell Holmgren which specific moves to make. He did not tell Holmgren to trade Bobrovsky and then sign Bryzgalov. Neither does upper management ever tell a GM which players to draft.

Hextall didn't have anything to do with this mess. He had the right approach and it takes time. The Flyers absolutely are archaic in the way they operate. It's why they have issues developing players. Hextall was attempting to change everything in a dysfunctional organization. They wouldn't let him. He offended the alumni. The influence of Holmgren and Clarke is absolutely still present.

So what was signing Hayes, trading for Ristolainen, Ellis and Atkinson about? How about trading a 2nd and a 3rd for Braun? Trading Gostisbehere for nothing in return but cap space and giving up picks to do it so he could make the moves above about?

Since Covid is affecting hockey it is relevant to discuss on this forum. Players are out, games are postponed.

Absolutely mind boggling you believe this. Beyond mind boggling. He is/was part of this current mess. Along with the current GM.

Trading for Braun was to improve the D. To provide some help to the young D (on and off the ice) that Saint Ronnie never did. Which in turn has likely stifled the development of Ivan and Sanheim. Saint Ronnie failed both of those players.

Sir, please don't don't add the royal prerogative to your shortcomings. The "we" you refer to is the wee of intellect.

As I have mentioned many times before, any time, and I mean any time, I notice the resident clowns of this board engaging in the dangerous fantasy musings of the comically and criminally ignorant, there will be a rebuttal. That's the way it is going to be. There won't however be a first strike, and there hasn't for a very long time now.

Now, what is your opinion about Frost?

It's relevant to discuss the NHL covid policy and the effects of players missing. It is however not relevant to discuss Covid independent of hockey.

This explains a lot!

We have been asking you to move on for quite a while now, but apparently to you this means that people should not be swayed by us fanatics and instead only be swayed by you! Let's agree to keep it to hockey on this forum and then there are no issues. I would even want to go back to your drafting odds arguments ... never thought I would say that :-)

You need to move on from your bizarre fantasies first. The flu shot is a flu vaccine delivered by a needle.

https://kidshealth.org/en...s/immunization-chart.html

6 months and annually
Influenza (Flu): The flu vaccine is recommended every year for children 6 months and older:
- Kids younger than 9 who get the flu vaccine for the first time (or who have only had one dose before July 2019) will get it in 2 separate doses at least a month apart.
- Those younger than 9 who have had at least 2 doses of flu vaccine previously (in the same or different seasons) will only need 1 dose.-
-Kids older than 9 need only 1 dose.

The vaccine is given by injection with a needle (the flu shot) or by nasal spray. Both types of vaccine can be used this flu season (2019–2020) because they seem to work equally well. Your doctor will recommend which to use based on your child's age and general health. The nasal spray is only for healthy people ages 2–49. People with weak immune systems or some health conditions (such as asthma) and pregnant women should not get the nasal spray vaccine.
