Yea it was close. He turned his foot to redirect it but I honestly couldn't tell if he actually "kicked" at it - TPC

remember when Nigel Dawes scored on his back off his hand while sliding into the net against brodeur?
also, am I the only one that didn't think that was a distinct kicking motion? - Mtlca66
I’m not sure I know the rules then lol I really didn’t think it had a chance to stay a goal. He didn’t kick it like a soccer ball, but without his skate that goes no where near the inside of the net
I guess a number of years ago that gets waves off. Just saying, if a Ranger does next time, it wouldn’t shock me if it’s called off. |

the consistency around how it's called with never shock me, but on that play it looked like he was skating towards the net and his momentum continued to move forward after changing his foot direction, which i feel isn't a distinct kick.

Everyones pilling on the 3rd line and for good reason, however, picking up your man in the d zone is whats missing here. Against Edmonton, Hunt let his man go and it was an easy tip in. Last night on the PP Kreider and Zibanejad are sandwiching Marchssault and they let him chip in the first. On the Stone goal, Zibanejad is gliding back into the d zone and by the time he realizes the 2 on 1 down low, Stone taps it in. Hajek, was burned all night. There was no urgency, no bite, no jam, what ever the hell you call it. Sleep walking! Better come out with a better effort Sat or the kids from Anaheim will have there was with Georgie boy! Oh yeah, Georgie, you needed to be better too! |

This move on Pronger is what I remember most from Dawes. Also think he’s been a “star” in the KHL ever since.

There was definitely a whole lot of coasting which made it easy for Vegas to counterattack.

From what I understand, it's OK to direct it, but you can't kick at it. I believe the difference is that a kicking motion is more likely to bring the skate blade off the ice, increasing the chance of injury. What's the call if someone lifts their skate off the ice to direct a puck in the air?
I think it's ridiculous. Stone was definitely moving his foot forward, but then seemed to stop that motion just as he made contact with the puck. Fine distinction. |

"Brunswick School was hosting St. Luke’s School in a junior varsity game, when a player from the visiting school fell to the ice, according to local police. While the player was laying down, another player was unable to stop and collided with the player that was prone on the ice.
The injury was noticeable immediately, as the game was stopped and emergency services were called to take the player to Greenwich Hospital. The player later died from the injury."

I think its a dumb rule anyway. I have no problem with players scoring with their skates. Just get rid of the rule altogether. As long as a player isn't picking up the puck with their hands and throwing it into the net I have no issue with any goals of body parts. - TPC
This!^^^
Been saying for years if you could skate 20 mph and use i foot to kick a puck in, or have a defenseman draped all over you and do it, good for you. |

3rd line needs some greasy veterans. They need to wear the other team down and chip in some ugly goals. Currently the 3rd line is easy minutes for the opposition night in and night out. |

Horrifying. Someone I know just said it was a result of not wearing a neck guard/cut by skate.

This is why Ive brought up Jeff Carter as a temporary 3C. LAF, Carter, Goodrow could be a nice 3rd. Pens would never trade him to us though. |
