I'm so bored with the lack of hockey that I stumbled on this article from a few days ago on the Islander website. Fischler on Peca. It's actually not bad.

I'll never forget that hit on Peca. Dirty as they come. Almost as bad was Corsons' hit from behind on Kenny Jonsson. |

How could you become friends with a POS that blew out your knee. I couldn't believe it when Peca signed with the leafs. |

That was the angriest I have ever been as a sports fan. Had season tickets and finally made playoffs for first time in years. They took out our best defenseman and best forward with Cheap shots. league didn't do sht about it either... those 2 healthy we at least win that series. |

Gary Roberts received a 5-minute major for boarding Jonsson who was knocked unconscious. The League levied no additional punishment for the hit. Darcy Tucker received no penalty whatsoever from either the on ice officials or the League. Peca was not only knocked out of the series, but missed the first few months of the following season. Friends who are Leafs fans have told me that they thought that the hit wasn't late, but they admitted that it was a low bridge, designed to injure. I think it was also borderline late. Regardless, neither Jonsson nor Peca were ever as good again.
Years later, when Peca became a Leaf near the end of his career, he invited Tucker to play golf with him. They quickly became friends. Tucker said he wished he could have that hit back. |

Unless the Devils get at least a couple players back for Thursday's game we can count on that game being postponed as well. Pretty incredible that the NHL’s only change to their protocols so far has been to seemingly lower the threshold to postpone games which of course has increased the number of postponed games. I also love how the Islanders had to play games missing half their lineup and got slaughtered for it before this happened. If this is their moronic plan just do everyone a favor and cancel the season already. |

Doesn't seem like a season cancellation is coming down the pipe anytime soon. Owners are already worried about revenue and they're postponing games in Canada strictly so teams don't have to operate at a percentage of their capacity to keep revenues up. They're just waiting out omicron and hoping that Canada eases up on the restrictions.
In the meantime, we were just the team that got butt(frank)ed by old policy and bad luck. Watch...the Isles will climb back in the playoff hunt and then have to finish the season with like 7 games in 10 days or something and miss because the schedule is brutal |

Amanda also reports that Yegor Sharangovich is out of COVID protocol for Devils. Pretty good sign Devils will be able to play on Thursday. |

The only good things is maybe we can make up some ground on some of the teams experiencing this only problem is the league seems to have reduced the threshold for rescheduling games. Total cluster(frank). |

The other good thing is that the only Islanders who haven't gotten Covid (and I'm just stealing this from a tweet) so far this season are:
Ilya Sorokin
Semyon Varlamov
J.G. Pageau
Kyle Palmieri
Scott Mayfield
Noah Dobson (he had it last year)
So the likelihood of the Islanders having to deal with too many more outbreaks is low. Hopefully that's something that benefits them as the season wears on and other teams have it start spreading. |

We’ll probably lose Varlamov and Sorokin simultaneously next to Covid protocol and the NHL will make us play games. Book it |
