That's the exact opposite of what they should do. That's exactly a big part of why this team is where it's at. Good teams and GM's don't do that. They don't make moves just to make them. They don't say they have to make moves and then make the best moves they can find. That is the kiss of death for a team. Good GM's are patient and they find and make the right moves. - MJL
No, good GMs make moves because the current roster and product that's on the ice isn't working.

Waiting for the best move?
You mean like Buffalo waiting until Fletcher called for Ristolainen?

The team has shown nothing but regression, and stagnation since Fletcher took over. They had more cap space, and assets at the end of Hextall’s tenure.
Whoever in their right mind, believes Fletcher to be a competent GM is simply not brave enough to admit reality.
He’s made moves, sure he has. It’s made them worse, and the excuses of injuries, and covid are only something Dave Scott would believe. |

Do you recall when Vigneault was hired? How he was talking about how it's his way or the high way? How if you didn't play the right way, you weren't going to play? It was the talk on this forum. That's not what this teams top issues are. They need a modern day NHL front office and coaching staff. They need to focus on drafting and developing talent and fix how they develop talent. They need to focus on transition play and attacking. The need to become a much better team. When they do that, then culture and accountability will come with it and leadership will be much more effective. - MJL
Were just talking coaching though. The front office is a mess and probably beyond repairable due to current ownership. |

Still scared to rebuild huh?
Blaming Giroux for any of this is nothing but laziness, from those afraid to admit where the actual problem with the Flyers lies.
Hint? It’s not anyone on the bench. - FlyerFan3260
All I want is for them to rebuild. It’s going to be long and it’s going to be painful. But it’s there only way out of this mess.

I miss the Dry Island days. |
|
|
|
It's been 9 of the last 10 years of the same thing.
Miss the playoffs or make it and lose in the 1st round.
Whatever success they had was temporary. Good teams are consistent. Slumps are temporary and then they bounce back. Not the FLyers.
It is a roster of over valued players and bad contracts.
Different coaches - same result. Different GM's - same result.
Fletcher was not the answer(Neither was Hextall). He is a business man who was brought in by corporate Comast. He operates a very generic way of thinking. Spend and let the next guy deal with the cap problems. Fletcher knows he will not be here to see the end of Hayes and Couturiers contracts. 2 centers who lack speed and quickness and eat a decent amount of cap space in today's modern game is a recipe for struggle.
To win, you need to be dynamic. Nothing about the organization is dynamic. Their draft. FA signings. Trades. Nothing.
Rasmus trade was forced by Fletcher. Their defense was needing help. But Fletcher forced that trade instead of waiting for the right one to come along. But he wants to improve now and forced it. You can't do that.
Cam for Voracek i will give Fletch credit for. It was mainly a trade off contract wise. Jake makes more but one year less than Cam.
I hope now the Voracek apologists will stop defending him. He is a flawed player with an ugly cap hit.
For crying out loud. 1 goal in 32 games!!!!!!!! and a minus - 4.
He's on pace for 2 MAYBE 3 goals this season at a $8.2 cap hit. That's horrible. And please stop with assists. Just stop!

Couturier when he is healthy is a 70 point Selke level center who drives possession and does it while playing against top opposition players. He is absolutely a player for today's game.
It remained to be seen if Hextall was the right answer but his philosophy and patience was absolutely the answer.

Atkinson is a strong player but you have Voracek incorrect. That trade filled a hole but it also created a hole. They badly miss Voracek's playmaking and transition play. It's a factor in why the team is where it is. I have news for you. All but the elite in the NHL are flawed players. Stop with assists? LOL. Goals don't happen without assists.

One of my all time favorite goalies was Roger Crozier...probably about 5'7 150 lbs soaking wet. Was a nervous wreck twitching and moving all the time but a heck of a goalie. Few here probably remember him with the Red Wings - hfc355
He was also with Buffalo when the Flyers defeated them in the SCF in 75 |

I agree with most of these points. The biggest being, the lack of a dynamic move. It’s been an organization that’s made some major gaffe’s and the fixes attempted have not worked or put them even further in the hole. It’s become a very dysfunctional organization with a management that appears to offer no direction. It’s sad to watch.

A lot of “Giroux is getting traded” talks. I think he’s reached a point where he gets to write his own ticket. He has a family. Young kids. Maybe he doesn’t want to go and if the organization wants to keep him, keep him.
However, if the Flyers move him…you cannot blow this deal. Perfect example, the day we traded Jeff Carter and one of the leagues best two way centers in Mike Richards, Richards was replaced instantly by Sean Couturier who is now one of the leagues best two way centers. My point, get a kid who has potential to be this franchises next big thing. Don’t just get the best deal possible, get a deal done that stirs this ship in the right direction. |

Before the Flyers had a covid outbreak they had a 10 game losing streak and fired their coach. The GM traded for a glass chandelier that has played 4 games. Deflecting this franchise ineptitude upon the NHL is a convenient excuse.

Just reaffirms my earlier post. The entire organization is a joke. And sadly, the joke is on all of us. Crapcast cares about one thing, the bottom line. Period.
Want things to change? Stop buying tickets, stop buying merch, don’t watch the games. Boycotting the product reduces profits and that is the only thing that will get Crapcast’s attention. |

Not acknowledging what would have been Ed Snider's 89th birthday is an embarrassment. But then again everything this franchise does is embarrassing. So par for the course. |
