From The Athletic, an analytical ranking of top 25 puck moving defensemen.
Dahlin shows very well here...
https://theathletic.com/2...ource=user-shared-article
Spoiler Alert:
He finished 9th in the composite scoring for Dzone Exists, Neutral Zone Entries, and Generating High-danger opportunities.
Dahlin has two very different sides to his coin.
Offensively very good
Defensively relatively poor, his D IQ and Awareness is very lacking.
The Analytics back-up the eye test.
As has been said on here so many times by many; get a defensively effective D partner for him.
Let Power and Dahlin play on P1 and P2 each playing 23 minutes a night. 3rd Pairing plays PK and the left-over minutes. |

Pettersson is on pace for the same season Mitts had last year (PPG wise) while playing 3 more minutes a night. Just saying - Hank Balling
He was nearly a point per game player every season prior to this one.
Just a slight difference between Pettersson and Mittelstadt.
You think the Canucks are selling low on him due to a 34 game sample size? |

I don’t disagree with any of this.
I don’t want to trade Dahlin at all.
It would take someone I listed to even consider - sbroads24
Where you and I differ is on Byfield. I'm not a big fan.
Larkin would be great, if he'd sign an extension, and we are talking about him doing that with the Sabres, so... |

RAPM charts have their merits, but they're based on X-Y coordinates and easy to track events based on canned data from in game events that the NHL provides.
They look fancy and clean, but they're only a piece to the puzzle.
That's why additional supporting data like you provided is so important, like Dahlin leading the league in hits that make the opposing player lose control of the puck. |

I don't think they're trading for Dahlin. They already have Jack Quinn Hughes |

I'm curious what point you're making about Pettersson with your prior post. |

power/dahlin
samuelsson/manson could be punishing shut down duo
johnson/bryson/joker
I think we would be fine promoting Laaksonen though and put him on 3rd pair and Joker on second pair |

There’s gonna be playoff teams that go after him for sure |

I dont think players of his caliber are untouchable. Those kinds of players are why you to listen to offers on Dahlin. The Canucks don't have a need for Dahlin but plenty of others do |

He's getting close to bust territory. Even if he ends up as a good 2nd pairing dman, that is a far cry from being a #1 overall pick. - jfkst1
He’s literally 21 years old. Most defensemen prospects are just getting to Rochester right now in their careers at his age.

I really like Pysyk and he’s a right hand shot. So 3rd pairing d is fine |

Also hopefully Devon levi plays for team Canada.

I'd second this.
No, Dahlin doesn't have that footspeed that Makar, Hughes, etc have, but (for me) he IS going to "get it" at some point, and become a helluva Dman. The Sabres have the makings of a real nice, strong D corps, moving forward.
It's all about being somewhat patient. Power is going to struggle. Johnson is going to struggle. Samuelsson is going to struggle. They ALL struggle.
However, given that they do seem to have a nice mix of young guys coming (Power, Johnson, Samuelsson, Laaksonen, Novikov, and maybe Fitzgerald/Bryson turn into a decent bottom pairing), maybe they CAN afford to trade Dahlin if they have the opportunity to add a difference-making forward. - Powerslave
You also don’t need dynamic foot speed to be a dynamic defenseman
EX: Nick Lidstrom, the best defenseman of our lifetimes,
and one of the top 3ish of all-time |

"UPDATES ON JAKOB CHYCHRUN AND EVANDER KANE.
SPORTSNET: Jeff Marek said he can confirm at least 10 teams have contacted the Arizona Coyotes to inquire about Jakob Chychrun. “A couple of offers have given the Coyotes cause for pause,” he said.
Marek said the Coyotes seek a young player, a high-end prospect and a first-round pick."

We can TRY
But he might very well want to go to a place where he can “win” right away…. especially after the last few years of losing in Anaheim
I’ve liked the player for years,
and i think he’d be a great partner for Dahlin or Power
But i have my doubts that he’d come here |

I know it was just a list of guys Sbroads would trade Dahlin for straight up, and not a suggestion that Detroit would do it...
IMO, Stevie Y would never trade their 25 y/o 1C...would highly consider it if he called though. |
