A better headline Jan...
Goals by Comtois and Perreault vault Rangers to win...
Of all the dumb luck I've seen lately those 2 have to be top 5 ... my lord..
Really though the only reason the game wasn't a complete blowout was Stolli the goalie was nails all night.. Ducks def caught a break on that quick whistle in the 1st.
But that was a horrid offensive performance. Outside of the 3 posts Ducks hit Georgi boy had the night off.
Barron I really liked. I don't know how that guy rides the pine for Rangers. |

Shots deflect off players into their own nets all the time, it's just part of the game. If you want to talk about scoring on your own team... Check out Hagelin passing the puck 180 ft. into his own empty net on a delayed penalty last night |

Seems as though every former Ranger found a way to put one in the net last night.
No fewer than 4 for the Hurricanes in one game!!! |

At the end of the day whether you like it or not, I fully expect the Rangers to be buyers at the deadline. So you have to ask yourself, where do you want to invest those assets? |

As I have said before No Where. Im not in the majority who thinks this team is ready to compete for a Cup. Im not gonna fuel a we should trade for scenario. The team is playing well as of late but still a complete unknown in the playoffs which as we know is a different game. I know you think of Paves or Giroux but at 37 can Paves hold up thru a playoff run if we did go on one? Will he be worth what we give up if we get bounced in the first round?? For sure it will be a bidding war for him. Besides, I highly doubt Dallas will trade him if they are still in a playoff spot. You can forget the Flyers helping us. Doesnt matter if he has a NMC. Do you really think he will say trade me only to the Rangers??? |

Rangers have 3 needs, will most likely only be able to fill one. It’s most certainly going to cost at least a 1st rounder
Top 6 RW, however, if he’s not going to change the way teams will defend the Rangers in the playoffs, it’s probably not worth the investment.
A veteran defenseman who is not a traffic cone, but can bring stability to the 2nd or 3rd pair. Gallant will not enjoy going to war with unsized Jones and Nils as his 3rd pair
A 3c face off man, with some two way ability who can play the PK as well. Think Craig MacTavish from the 94’ year.
Of the 3, I think the need for face offs in your own end when playoffs start are critical. The luxury of another goal scorer would be nice, but it’s usually the bottom six who shine in the playoffs. Maybe a veteran adman, is most attainable. Mark Giordano would be a very nice fit. |

Pavelski can only be traded to 3 teams that he desires, so if Dallas decides they want to trade him, its up to Joe. The bidding "war" wont be all that much of a war since it will only be between 3 teams.
I think Giroux will want to be traded to which ever team gives him the best shot to win a cup. I think as fans we get way too caught up in city rivalries and forget that these guys play hockey because they want to win and raise the Stanley Cup.
As yes, I think Pavelski can hold up.
Do we win the Stanley Cup with the trades Ive tossed around recently? Who knows? Better teams have lost. Its arguably the hardest championship to win. |

Giroux is not the answer reminds me of sather paying to much for an aging vet on the downside. He’s not the last piece for a cup run by far! Hertl would be perfect! He scored a natural hat trick in the third period against the flyers and beat them in ot! |

I know D. Strome appears to check at least a couple of boxes and has been playing well as of late. As a RFA the club would need to sign him, and most likely Ryan as well. You would have to figure the pair would cost close if a little over $10 for next season and beyond. Is that doable? T. Hertl would be a rental for this year. Signing him beyond this year would be prohibitive. |

Thats the follow up with everyone signed.
The caveat is we need to get rid of Nemeth. Its tight against the cap. Will be the toughest cap year for us, the following year we will have some wiggle room. |

It’s tight but addresses two issues. Solidifying the 3C position, and retaining R. Strome as well. I think no matter how they proceed, it’s going to be a tight rope walk next year against the cap. |

Excellent. Would be nice to see LAF play RW on that line. Then play a 3rd line of Chytil, Barron, Goodrow |

If the Flyers make him available, the Rangers should have interest in Justin Braun. Overmatched playing up in the lineup as the Flyers need to but a a solid 3rd pair vet. RH to boot.
