Giroux is not the answer reminds me of sather paying to much for an aging vet on the downside. He’s not the last piece for a cup run by far! Hertl would be perfect! He scored a natural hat trick in the third period against the flyers and beat them in ot!
- Bobd62

I would disagree. Giroux is still a top 6 forward in this league and is still a very good player.

I personally think the Ranger shouldn't be trading any first rounders at this point. They're up and coming and if Kakko and Lefreniere bust out, they have a juggernaut. Add some more depth through the draft.

Outside of the center position, were pretty stacked in every position. So trading a 1st round pick wouldnt be all that tragic for us as far as developing the team. Its really the only big piece we lose this TDL in the way I proposed it. With like 10m in cap space this year and only this year, I think its worth a shot to try to do it. We manage to hover around the top of the Eastern conference with the team the way it is, with some glaring holes. Especially with the 3rd line being completely ineffective. If we can plug these holes and get even better without any loss of man power, thats something significant.

Only a matter of time before the entire team cycles it around.

Excellent. Would be nice to see LAF play RW on that line. Then play a 3rd line of Chytil, Barron, Goodrow

Laf having a tough enough time playing the position he's played his entire life....NYR tried it for a short pd. of time in camp...He's not playing the offside. It is a lot to ask of a youngster..Picking up every pass on you backhand is no easy thing . Let him gain some NHL experience. Maybe as he progresses it will be an option. Not this year..that's for sure.

I only say that because hes had a couple games recently with Panarin out where he ended up making plays and even scoring from his off-side. So Im just saying maybe its worth revisiting for a game to see what happens.

I'm sure they're open to and monitoring the idea. But, maybe there's just a big difference between making some plays on your backhand side and staying productive making almost all plays on that side. Idk.

You dont have to tell me this, I made a huge stink and argument about it weeks ago about moving players to their offside to fit some sort of need. But after seeing him make some plays from his off wing, this past week its worth a look again. To be quite honest, Im curious to see if he could center Panarin and Strome.

kreider scored on his off-wing the other night - i'd prefer LAF with zib and then kreider shifted to the right and drop kakko to strome/panarin since he produced when he played with them. allows the kids to keep their natural positions and kreiders game doesn't really seem specific wing dependent.

really curious to see what gallant decides to do. I imagine he'll get dropped back to the 3rd line to piss us all off

With how poorly the 3rd line has played to this point as its been used, you have to figure a change has to come. Im really hoping for a Chytil, Barron, Goodrow line. We get everything we've wanted out of this line... moving Chytil to wing, giving Barron a chance and solidifying with Goodrow.

A name to consider that was brought up by Joe Haggerty is Lawson Crouse. An RFA with arb rights, Crouse won't be cheap and Arizona should keep him, but he is a perfect third line winger with upside.

you know what's the problem with a guy like this

we don't need to acquire a guy making only 1.5 mil this year, we can acquire a guy making a lot more

what we can't do it acquire a guy requiring a big raise going into next season

just a reminder that after tonight, Rangers will have played 22 road games and only 15 home games

using common core math, that's 7 more road games than home

we are 23-9-4

Playing off wing becomes a problem for some in the dzon/break outs. After that the forwards are pretty much weaving and cycling so no biggie in offensive zone or on offensive rushes.

March and April are going to be crazy. So many games those 2 months. Better to pocket as many points as they can now

Kreider having the season he has had so far has stopped Laf from moving up. I think most people figured Kreids might me moved to the 3rd line . Probably will happen eventually, but im fine with the way its going. No need to start moving people to their off wings
