Question 1 is irrelevant. Kane will get a second chance regardless of what I think about it. Taking the Oilers out of the equation to satisfy my moral superiority wouldn't help anyone.

Question 3 is probably a yes as well. Kane is going to be motivated to get along and show he can be a teammate. That's not to say I would turn around and offer him term in the summer, I would keep Kane playing on 1 year deals the rest of the way and if someone offered him more and he took it, then so it goes.
