I see media members regularly talking about the extra work Pettersson does before/after practice.

Extra skating for his legs?
What else? Helping OTHERS on their one timers. Maybe he could work on his passing so they can use it or at least draw defenders & create a lane? How about he ACTUALLY shows something in his own game anything at least.

Great he works on his one timer after practice. What was he doing in the off-season? Why doesn’t he hustle during games? Why does he pout every shift and lose every board battle? He has shown zero signs of improving under Bruce, if anything he is getting worse

Basically it’s a coach trying to find ways to improve him & get production & hopefully fix his ego. That can only last so long if a player doesn’t find it within.

Coaches can coach & put players in a position to succeed but they cannot play. Players on min contracts don’t get the same treatment. Coaches want to win & use all that is at their disposal. Players make coaches look good being the best they can be. That is an internal desire that separates stars from the masses.
