Using your logic, we'd already have sold low on Hughes just to watch him get back on track on a new team.
- boonerbuck

Nope your words not mine. Hughes never fell off the tracks the team did namely Petey.

Hughes hasn’t disappointed me & is far more valuable & proving his importance. Nobody has ever carried him.

Petry/1st/+ for Petey?
- Nighthawk

So let me get this straight. Using your "what have you done for us lately" scouting strategy on Petey, some other team is going to give up quality players and 1st rounders because their NHL scouting staff can't see what you have learned about him?

"Petey is overrated/over paid and we don't think he'll turn it around so please give us a difference maker and a 1st rounder and he's yours...."

Demko
Miller
Hughes
Boeser
Bo
Myers

Are driving the success train with help from the others. Petey is just riding along at this time. If he gets it going I’ll say it now we make the PO’s.

Nope

I look for a deal that helps improve the team. Habs are a mess & can wait & let Petey get over the hump. Other teams in a better position can use him if we get what we need in return.

I haven’t bashed any player til Petey. He either gets his head outta his ass or moves on. Yes maybe I’ve picked on others to a degree but they weren’t ordained.

Can you point out 1 positive in his game other than extra skating in practice?

- Nighthawk

Sure but I don't think you'll agree because you have already posted otherwise.

The kid is struggling but maintains a positive attitude, tries to work on parts of his game after practice is over. Yesterday he whiffed on one timers, had not much on his shot and you could see he was pissed at himself.

Now Miller passed several times to a Panther, continually gave up after his poor pass, and the only complaining here is Petey.

Now I'm not sure Petey will be here long term but if people could be objective and criticize everyone it would be a bit easier to understand.

Where was Hughes last night, Miller was brutal with give aways, Pearson might have fought, but wasn't very good along the boards, Hoglander and Garland were ineffective. 🤷‍♂️

Not my words. I preached the same thing about Hughes as I am about Petey. Also, blaming "namely Petey" for Hughes' decline last season when Petey is still struggling this season makes no sense. Also, while this team was still way off the tracks this season, Hughes was still having a great first 3rd. Not much sense in those statements...

You missed Myers. 😁

We should make a whipping boy calendar. Ironically enough Petey is the January pin up on the Canucks calendar.

- Load Management

Oh how did I miss Myers, Pearson or Hoglander next month

This. All of it.

Good post for a fly fisherman.

Ya I don’t agree. I don’t think Vancouver fans think Miller is God it’s just that people realize he is the best forward. Unfortunate but true.

All you are debating is the use of a word... I don't even believe in a Devine power.... I think my point was made though. You hold him pretty high... call him the only alpha, talk about building the team around him Demko and Hughes... but teams moved on from him and his inconsistent play, attitude and what ever was going on with him before you said anything of the sort. That was the point, not him being the creator of the universe.

On Petey I’m simply saying he has stagnated.

Can he get out of it? Of course.

I’m not adverse to trading anyone if we improve. So he could fetch a good return I wouldn’t hang up. We have enough pieces that can use more pieces/assets & he could get those. RHD tops my list along with more. Yes Miller heads the move list but more so cuz of a needed raise in a tight cap situation with Boeser coming up then along with Bo. No matter what some nifty capology is needed

Elias is the worst player on the team. Second worse to Chaisson 5v5. He deserves the criticism. Some of the other guys have a few good games followed by a bad one. Elias hasn’t had one good game all year.

Miller is prone to many giveaways I just haven’t gone there. Good with the bad.

Petey also prone to giveaways that nobody speaks of. He even struggles to handle the puck.

Yes Hughes was invisible but he doesn’t do that often or for stretches.

Panthers are good & deep but they were not overwhelming us. We more than held our own & they were simply more opportunistic.

Good grief already, some guys here are just absolutely brutal with the incessant complaining of poor Ole Petey. This months whipping boy, last month was Boeser, month before was Hughes, month before it was Miller.

You guys want knee jerk reactions well your posting them

News flash, Petey will be a Canuck until he is no longer a Canuck, same as Green, and Benning, it is what it is.

- Makita

You got it. Oh but they have to hate and complain about something lol

Patience is one thing but it’s fair to judge on performance & in this is where you are correct. He’s nowhere close to the player he was & no signs it will change anytime soon. That said he can change that & only he can do that.

Yeah. I just took it as a deliberate over exaggeration to exemplify how fickle fans can be. Just like if Petey goes on a nice long heater he'll be right back up on that pedestal.

Hate such a poorly chosen word these days. Complain no disagreement here but also warranted.

What is there to be positive about?

The team has been on a roll without him helping at all.

Let's talk fair then. Hughes never had a season ending wrist injury in that time frame either.

Let's talk more fair. Your excuse list that you were parading through here was full of unfair claims.... not all but enough to make your "not fair" excuse right now laughable.

The thing I don’t understand is how did a wrist injury prevent him from working out his legs over the summer? Was he in a cast in the summer? No he was not.

I'm not assuming he didn't. He's a twig... maybe he needs more light, potassium, potassium silicate and a proper medium. Put a fan on him as the movement will strengthen his branches.
