Poulin and Legare were both scratched for their game against Hershey.

Some guys take a little longer to reach their stride, so Im not giving up on Poulin, but man, what an underwhelming draft by Rutherford. He held onto that pick specifically because of the deep class.

If you look at the picks after Poulin, a few of them are in the NHL and a few are in the AHL/NCAA. Still time to get to the NHL, but I was hoping for more.

Rust can score plenty. Give Geno him. Let Carter and Kap PDO their way through things on the 3rd line with sucker.
- Feds91Stammer

I give Geno Heinen and Carter then reunite the Zucker Rodrigues Kapanen line. They killed it at the beginning of the season. 7-0 goals for, 68.68 xGF%. Would be one hell of a middle six line.

It's honestly hilarious that this dude can't even accidentally score a goal. How could your finishing ability be in the negatives? lol

LOL! Even Dumo with his muffin shot is more of a threat. Albeit not much.

More than a couple of mock drafts had us taking Hoglander which would have been great. He didn't go until the 2nd round, so you can't really fault them when other teams passed, too, but I liked everything I was reading about him and he's been a decent player thus far.

#Pens practice underway. Jeff Carter isn’t skating but is watching from the bench.

Probably because he is old and will be given plenty of optional days.

Probably still salty about hipcheck_goalie's post about him:

"Big Jeff Carter. I hated him, literally loathed, and then he arrived in Pittsburgh... I struggled to like him last year. How dare he trade in that putrid orange jersey for the black and gold... yes I know he came from LA but I didn't care... there was no way I could ever like him"

Jarry is the real deal I said it in the past and now he is just coming into his own.
Reminds me of the swagger and confidence that Carey Price has/had. Too bad Price was the whole team. That is not the case with Jarry. Look for him to be a big time performer for a long time. A diamond in the ruff is now starting to sparkle and shine

Yep. It’s not even worth getting excited over. Malkin looked good with Carter taking most of the center responsibilities but Zucker-Malkin is going to be beat to death once again.

You didn't even watch the game. Malkin looked very good, he was playing center. Carter took faceoffs when it was on Geno's off side.

I listened to Sullivan actually say the words “Carter took a lot of defensive responsibilities down low” during the post game on my way home. I’m strictly referencing the head coach of the team. But hey WatCh tHe GaME!!

While I watched a bit more than 2/3rds of the game, it was pretty late and I was heavily Mary J influenced, it seemed like Geno took most of the draws. However, for what's its worth, Carter had 9 faceoff wins in the game and Geno only 1. I wonder if Geno was struggling on them and they switched it up in the 3rd that I passed out at the very beggining of?

Is that possible guys? That Carter took most of the draws in the 3rd while I was in Zzzville?

From a post-game recape:

One other benefit and hidden bonus of the perhaps unexpected Carter-Malkin duo is that it also allows Sullivan to insulate Malkin on faceoffs. As mentioned in the recap, Carter was almost exclusively tasked with draws for the line last night. Carter is at an impressive 59.1% on faceoffs this season, which has been a career-long weakness for Malkin (44.2%). As play started, Malkin played like the center with deep defensive responsibilities, and Carter played high in the zone or on the wall defensively like a winger would, a flip from their alignment.

Nah.
