This is kinda bs as we played Montreal next and was looking like we would have won. Not to mention Montreal played more games than we had as well and were still only .5 game in hand.

to answer your question, if they could not build a team around a superstar center they sure as hell are not going to build a team lacking one.

2- different management now
3- a star center could still be: developed, drafted, or added through trade or free agency
*i think the best hope for that is probably drafting one this year or next, but we’ll have to wait & see what happens

We failed because we refused to get better talent around the core. If you look at all the rosters from the day Eichel got here is was 3-4 top players and then PLUGS and worst of all No competent goalie, and please don't give me Robin lehner, he was a franking disaster when he was here.

At least it seems like they have the direction now, idk. They should be steadily adding pieces from here (or this summer) on out. Steadily climbing up the standings from next season on should be their plan/direction.
I understand why many have lost all faith in their ability to follow through on a plan, though.

I did not. I expected them not to trade the 2 best players for fuck all. Who knows what Levi will be? Hopefully good, but that's not close to a good enough return for the two they shipped out. I expected them to be good like 3 or 4 years after tanking, the fact that they're going to be picking top 5 yet again in year 9 is asinine.
