But what have they done for the Team / Teams they have played for? - Tee56
One licks people the other grabs asses. So depends on which offends the voters. |

Stanley cup, olympic gold, and arguably the most skilled agitator ever. He belongs in the HOF whether you hate him or not.. |

No doubt Marchand is love to have on your team vs. play against. But at the end of his career what will put him in HOF?
As you see i still push John Tonelli:
GP 1,028
G 325
A 511
PTS 836
-/+ 221
PM 911
4 Stanley Cups
This guy was total Team player, along with Tournament awards, NHL all star, etc.
Where does the line get drawn? What is it that really puts these guys in the HOF?
If you can’t be a Gretzky then you wanted to be a Tonelli.
Go ahead and make the comments but until you watched Tonelli game in and game out save your comments. |

Hes never been on an olympic team.
And quite honestly, while he has had some great seasons over the past 5 years, on a stacked line, his career stats are not HOF worthy at this time. And no awards either.
He may get there, but I dont think he does. AT this point, I dont think he has the resume, and definitely wouldnt get in if the vote were today. Lots of better players with better resumes are not in.

Lindros is in the HHOF. Point difference is like 100. At 33 theres no reason to expect him not to pass him. Given the fact he is in the hall of fame it only makes sense Marchand would be |

lindros is well over a point per game, marchand is well under. plus a hart trophy. Marchand isnt the best player on his team, let alone the league.
the only reason he might catch lindros is because his career got cut short with concussions. Marchand is nowhere near the level of player lindros was. |

Lindros is a HOF if not only due to the fact he scored over 800 pts in 13 years but only played over 60 games in 7 of those seasons. This guy was deserving of the honor. |

If Marchand makes it. Then I think you have to look at Tarasenko. Maybe Gallagher too. |

Shawn Simpson says Kane has basically signed with the Oilers for 1.5M, but he won't officially sign on the line until suspension details are outlined by the league. |

It’s the oilers that won’t officially sign and register the deal until they know what is happening. If they did it his deal would kick in now and it would count against the cap right away. If they wait until suspension is over (if he’s suspended) then it wouldn’t kick in until they sign it afterward. |

Somehow I think Evander Kane is a shoe in for this. Matt Cooke also comes to mind

Marchand is not a slam dunk but he has a case. Forgetting career totals for a moment and just looking at his peak output:
- Two-time first team all-star LW
- Two-time second team all-star LW
- Top 10 in points per game for five straight seasons (six if he holds on this year)
- Hart votes in each of the last five years (two fifth-place finishes)
- Solid-to-elite defensive reputation (although his impact is admittedly difficult to disentangle from Bergeron's).
Really, there aren't that many players with that kind of resume who aren't in the Hall, and there are plenty of HOFers who never peaked that high.
In the Hall you have plenty of guys who were never necessarily high-end elite (or were only very briefly) and never got a whole of individual award attention but played forever and racked up a billion points (Recchi, Andreychuk, Gartner, etc.). You also have your classic short career (or short prime surrounded by lots of lesser seasons due to injury or age-related decline), low career totals but really high peak impact players (Lindros, Forsberg, Kariya, etc.).
Marchand I think is in danger of falling through the gap right in the middle -- not quite elite enough at his peak to hang with a Kariya or Lindros, not quite enough top-line level seasons to get to those impossible-to-ignore career totals. Call it the Theo Fleury / Alex Mogilny zone. |

Mogilny needs to get in before Marchand |

they are not close to ppg players and one has less then 400 points and the other has less then 500 points
maybe a ceremony at their arenas but not close to hall of fame |

Agreed on the Bergeron choice, he’s unique, more one of a kind |

Given that Kane got 21 games for having a fake vaccine card, and this time he broke protocol while testing positive and placing numerous other peoples health in jeopardy, I can see the League suspending him for the remainder of this season. Which would be good so that the money Kane would have wasted somewhere else can instead go to the Players Assistance Fund to players who actually need the money.. |

Regrettably I have to admit that Marchand has a good poop at the HOF. He is that good if a player and has the stats and accomplishments. I despise his kind of play but its effective. He is a big game player. Scores huge goals.
I couldn’t care less where Kane signs as long as its not Pittsburgh. Seeing him go to the Rangers or Flyers would be good though. |

Looking at players of the early analytics era (2008-2016 or so) who just absolutely warped the fabric of reality whenever they were on the ice, you basically have three names that stand out IMO -- Crosby, Datsyuk, and Bergeron. Not necessarily saying that they were the absolute top three best forwards of the era (Ovechkin in particular would have something to say about that) but they were the ones who had the most dramatic impact on tilting the ice in their team's favor and helping their team dominate the overall the share of quality scoring chances.
Bergeron is a slam dunk, or at least he should be. Marchand is closer to the borderline. |
